Web3 Sports Platform 5TARS.io Migrates to Concordium Layer 1 Blockchain

  • Web3 sports gaming platform 5TARS.io migrates to Concordium Layer 1 blockchain.
  • All games—current and future developments—will be ported to the blockchain.
  • 5TARS.io also announced the upcoming release of a cricket game for India.

5TARS.io, a Dubai-based Web3 sports gaming platform, is migrating its portfolio of games and platforms to Concordium Layer 1 blockchain, a public blockchain platform designed for security, privacy, and scalability. The migration, which is set to be completed in late March 2025, will allow 5TARS.io to access Concordium's Layer 1 scalable infrastructure and host a wide catalogue of games.

According to the team statement, all gaming titles and collections, such as the 5TARS Football Game, will be ported to the Layer 1 blockchain, as well as all future releases. This binds well with 5TARS.io's mission to scale its Web3 sports gaming platform, the press release further stated.

"Migrating to Concordium will provide us with a permanent home where we can launch innovative games that will delight and entertain our global gaming community," Borja Burguillos, Founder & CEO of 5TARS.io, said.

5TARS.io offers a sports fantasy gaming platform with interactive sports games, enhanced by NFT-based collectibles, encompassing football and cricket, which enables fans to earn rewards, trade digital assets, and engage deeply with the sports they love.

Once completed later this month, the migration will allow the 5TARS.io platform to enjoy the scalability of Concordium as well as new powerful features, including age verification and geo-fencing. The current offerings on the platform—predicting football matches, AI prediction picks, Arenas, collecting football cards, superpicks, and mini-games—will be enhanced, allowing more players globally to join the platform.

In addition, new 5TARS.io games are slated for deployment on Concordium, including a cricket game for India, scheduled for Q3, as well as the existing Starzplay MENA cricket game, which debuted on Concordium last month.

Its flagship football game will be the biggest draw to players once it's ported to Concordium. It boasts over 250,000 registered users and 20,000 monthly active users. More than 1,720,000 arenas have been joined by 5TARS Football players, who have also traded 45,000 NFTs since launch. The gaming platform has also drawn a massive following across social media platforms, exceeding 200,000 across X, Telegram, and Discord. The 5TARS Football game saw peak activity during Euro 2024, attracting 45,000 active players.

Mike Milner, Chief Commercial Officer of Concordium, welcomed the migration, stating that the blockchain's scalability will help grow the platform in innovation and adoption in the coming years.

"We're pleased to support 5TARS.io as they embark on the next leg of their journey by providing them with the infrastructure and tooling to create best-in-class web3 games that will unlock new opportunities for player ownership and fan engagement," Milner added.

Building for the Future with Concordium

Concordium offers a scalable and regulatory-friendly infrastructure on which to build decentralized applications and platforms. According to the 5TARS.io team, the Layer 1 blockchain will offer its games an optimized, high-throughput, and high-performance platform to develop its sports fantasy games. In addition, Concordium supports privacy-focused identity verification and geo-fencing, which are enabled via zero-knowledge proofs. These features are critical for compliance and geographical expansion in the gaming, gambling, and online betting industries.

"The ability to tap into ready-made solutions for privacy and compliance, coupled with the scalability that Concordium provides, will enhance our existing releases and push the boundaries of what can be created within web3 gaming," Burguillos added.

The migration from the SKALE EVM chain to Concordium will also enhance security, facilitate 5TARS.io's strategic expansion across multiple regions, and solve the challenges that pertain to scalability, performance, age verification, geo-fencing, and compliance.

By integrating with Concordium, 5TARS.io aims to follow its mission to transform sports fandom with the aid of web3 technology to give fans control over digital assets such as NFTs and in-game currency. Its migration to Concordium will enable it to enhance its football and cricket offerings and prepare for the launch of new titles powered by play-compete-earn mechanics.
