Apple's widgets on iPhones and other devices have given users an easier experience in accessing certain apps or features. For those looking for a better experience, Google has dropped the latest update for its Gemini AI on iOS.
The new update adds more on what Gemini has to offer for iPhone users and is using widgets to make their AI access easier.
It seems Apple should be taking a few notes as its AI assistant, Siri, is lacking this particular user experience.
Google Gemini Adds New Widgets on iOS in Latest Update
The latest version of the Gemini app on the Apple App Store, which is version 1.2025.0762303, is now available, and it brings the latest capabilities of Google's AI for iOS users.
This update centers on adding six new Gemini widgets to iPhones which offer users a shortcut to accessing the Google AI assistant directly on different access points.
The six new widgets offer a shortcut to various Gemini AI functions on the smartphone without needing to open the app, create prompts, or select a certain feature to get assistance.
Specifically, 9to5Google reported that Google's release notes highlighted features like sharing text, images, and links directly to Gemini from any app. Gemini Advanced users, on the other hand, get access to the Deep Research feature.
UI improvements have also been included.

What Else to Know About the Widgets
These new Google Gemini widgets may be added to the iOS lock screen or home screen which offers easy access to specific functions, and only a tap on said widget is needed.
On the other hand, the Gemini app also integrates these new functions into the Control Center, adding these controls so that users no longer have to go to the home screen or lock screen to access them.
Google Gemini vs. Apple's Siri: Clash of Assistants
Google and Apple are two of the world's biggest tech companies that have focused heavily on AI recently, and it seems Google's latest update trumps Apple. This is because the latest Gemini AI is something that Apple's Siri actually lacks.
Apple has already worked on giving Siri the generative AI upgrade it badly needs, with the assistant now enjoying more features and ChatGPT integration. That being said, Apple's Craig Federighi himself admitted that Siri is not yet that advanced, and this smart version of the AI assistant is still under development.
