One of the most popular social media apps in the world, Instagram, has dropped a recent update, which gives an updated experience to its direct messages. While DMs are often slept on because they only serve a basic purpose of sending messages, many users have been rallying for more features to be added to it.
The latest update from Meta offers Instagram users a chance to get a more intuitive experience, making it a helpful messaging platform that users may enjoy with their online activities.
Instagram DM Gets Massive Upgrade: New Features From Meta
Meta's Instagram shared a recent blog post, which highlights the massive upgrades that are now live for users to experience when it comes to DMs.
First, Instagram is now integrating a direct translation tool to DMs, similar to its translation feature that is available for posts. Users only have to long press on the said message and tap "Translate," with Instagram automatically transforming it to one's preferred language set on the app.
Additionally, Meta also highlighted a feature that it previously introduced to Instagram DMs, and that is the scheduled message feature, which allows users to set specific times for chats to be sent.
Instagram also updated its music-sharing experiences for the songs available on its audio library, allowing them to be shared directly via the DMs. Share a song by tapping on the sticker tab on the chat and choosing the "Music'" icon.
What to Expect From This Latest Instagram DMs Update
Additionally, Meta also gave users a similar feature found on Messenger and WhatsApp which allows users to pin messages sent in 1:1 or group chats, making it easier for users to find important chats, memes, media, and more.
Instagram also dropped a feature that allows users to generate a QR code for a specific group chat and share it with friends, family, or mutuals who are not yet part of the group to easily join.

Instagram has been filled with features to enjoy, with the company introducing the likes of Stories, Reels, Live, and more. However, Meta also focused on offering users a better experience on smaller-scale features like the DMs, with the company previously introducing a way to schedule messages in one's chats.
Browsing remains to be one of the most important aspects of Instagram, and despite it being an online media-sharing platform, the company still prioritized its role in entertainment for users. Meta previously introduced a way to reset one's Personalized Recommendations on the app, and it will give users a chance to catch up on their other interests apart from what their algorithm dictates.
Recently, Instagram also doubled the maximum limit for posts as previously it only allowed up to 10 media in a single upload. Now, users may include up to 20 of their chosen content.
