The Northern European country of Sweden is now making a move towards developing a test nuclear reactor, with Blykalla, a renowned advanced SMR manufacturer, looking to transform the industry with the top development in the continent. Blykalla has recently inked a deal with the Germany-based company, Uniper SE, looking towards developingthis new nuclear reactor technology.

This latest development of the test reactor will focus on the pre-production steps necessary to undertake before building out the Swedish company's SMR design, and soon take the step towards Europe's presence in the field.

Europe's First Advanced SMR: Sweden Build Test Reactor

Bloomberg reported (via Interesting Engineering) that Blykalla has already agreed to join forces with Germany's Uniper SE to develop a new advanced small modular reactor design that could greatly benefit Europe. Blykalla is known for its specialty in developing advanced SMRs, and the pair would be joined by the Swedish Modular Reactors AB whichwould build the said reactors.

According to the report, the three-way partnership would center on Blykalla's work on developing a "first-of-its-kind" lead-cooled SMR, with the concept now looking towards a safe and responsible use of it. This latest project will also be a massive stepping stone for Blykalla and its reactor development to ask for further approval that it plans to complete by the end of the year.

Blykalla, Uniper SE, and MORE to Join Forces For SMR

The Swedish Modular Reactors AB would create the test nuclear reactor which it is already working on now, with this project looking to create a test reactor to ensure operational, safety, and more needed before it proceeds. It was revealedthat Blykalla's tech will focus on a certain purpose where it will only be a testing ground for future innovation.

According to Bloomberg, Blykalla is looking to determine the test reactor's safety which would be its step towards the SMR design, targeting to have it operational by 2030's end.

Nuclear Reactors and Its Global Development

There are multiple uses for developing nuclear reactors and similar technology for the modern world, and while it is infamous for being one of the key sources to build weapons of mass destruction, there are many global developments that are doing it for the public. The United States is one of those countries that are working towards developing reactors for various industries.

One of the United States' largest rivals, China, is also known for its massive development of nuclear-powered technologies, including its infamous work on creating nuclear weapons that are being feared globally. It was revealedby a previous report that China is allegedly 15 years ahead of the United States regarding the development of high-tech nuclear power, one of the most coveted technologies at present.

That being said, there are still many countries and nations who are already under the development of creating this renowned massive power for various future applications that can also power the space race and more. Europe is known for its many efforts in developing nuclear reactors for future needs, with Sweden being among the top runners of the race, with Blykalla and more now working on the tech.
