If you are a movie buff, then you're probably always on the lookout for iconic film locations around the country. For example, there is the park bench Tom Hanks sat at in Forrest Gump in Savannah, Georgia and the iconic steps climbed by Sylvester Stallone in Rocky located at the Art Museum in Philadelphia.
There are many different things movies can inspire us to do. These include falling in love, reaching for our dreams and traveling to new places in search of a new adventure. So HotelsCombined created a series of maps that show where the most iconic movies were filmed across the U.S. in case your favorite film has inspired you to book your next vacation.
Of course, California—home to Hollywood Studios–ranked number one at having the most movie locations. However, New York come in second with other top 10 contenders being close to deserts or warmer weather, such as Nevada and Texas.
While this is good-to-know movie trivia, the fun is featured in the following map that shows iconic movies by state. For example, did you know that Dazed And Confused was filmed in Texas? Alright, alight, alright.
Other interesting finds include Jurassic Park being filmed in Hawaii and Insomnia being shot in Alaska. Fargo was filmed in North Dakota (obviously), Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End was filmed in Utah (seriously), and The Breakfast Club was shot in Illinois.
And New Yorkers who love movies can check out famous films by location in a separate map. You don't need to go to Italy to celebrate your inner mobster. Scenes from The Godfather were shot up in Harlem, and Goodfellas was filmed right in Queens.
Rosemary's Baby, Black Swan and The Devil Wears Prada were all shot on the West Side. Coming To America was filmed in Dumbo, whereas When Harry Met Sally, Sex And The City, and Ghost were all filmed in the West Village.
