If you are looking for a new television streaming device and stumbled upon the Google Store, you might be surprised by Chromecast with Google TV's official return. Yes, the prodigal son returns, but this time, it is now sold alongside the new Google TV Streamer which delivers the latest experiences from the company for all things large-screen entertainment.
Turning regular LCD or LED televisions, as well as smart TVs, into a Google-powered device has long been possible with Chromecast, now back for possibly its last dance.
Chromecast with Google TV is Now Back on the Google Store
The Chromecast with Google TV 4K version has now made its grand return to the Google Store, available for users who prefer the old device or want to pay less for a streaming solution. This was after Google removed all traces of Chromecast from its online marketplace earlier this month as it prioritized showcasing its latest streaming platform.
Alongside the 4K version, users are also treated to the previous-gen model of the streaming dongle, with Chromecast with Google TV (HD) also making its return.
Google did not explain why they removed the Chromecast in the first place, only to bring back the renowned technology.
Chromecast is Now Sold Alongside Google TV Streamer
When navigating the Google Store's streaming options, Chromecast is now available again alongside Google TV Streamer (4K) which previously appeared solo on the website.
Chromecast's two versions are also back to their original pricing, with the 4K version available for $49.99, while the HD version offers a cheaper purchase at $29.99. On the other hand, Google TV Streamer is the more expensive one at $99.99.
Google and TVs: The New Entertainment Frontier
Chromecast was among the earliest streaming sticks in the market, and it was initially meant to mirror Android's streaming features instead of a standalone device. However, as more technologies made their way to smart TVs, Google was among those who stepped up its offers, with Google TV now being a massive part of Chromecast.
From looking like a USB flash drive but is meant to connect via HDMI, to a streaming dongle, Google's large-display entertainment solution saw significant evolutions, until its last offer of 4K streaming for users.
Earlier this year, Google already stopped the production of the last Chromecast with Google TV (4K) devices as it was speculated to bring its new device to the world.
The latest from Google is now a tabletop device, and it is similar to Apple TV 4K's set-top box-designed streaming device which can be displayed on one's setup, unlike the Chromecasts that are hidden behind.
After removing Chromecasts from the Google Store earlier this year to make way for Google TV Streamer, it is now back and serves as the cheaper option for entertainment.
