Destiny 2 will have not one, but two expansions per year, and Bungie's latest roadmap revealed the company's plans towards more experiences to offer gamers in its MMO sci-fi shooter. For the longest time, fans and players of the gamehave seen one massive expansion offered per year, but come 2025, things will see a drastic change for the better.
This new plan by the company will start next year, and it has already teased some of the expectations for the future of Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 is Treating Gamers to Two Expansions Per Year
In the 10th anniversary of the Destiny franchise, Bungie announced its latest plans in offering more to its fans and player base, but is still not a new game. This new offer centers on giving Destiny 2 as much as two expansions per year, breaking its previous setup of one massive expansion content each year.
It was revealed by Bungie that this would take effect by next year, and the games developer calls this project "Codename: Frontiers."
Furthermore, Bungie will also add four major updates that will bring more free content per year under this plan. According to the company, it will share more about Destiny 2's Codename: Frontiers in the coming months.
Bungie Unveils Destiny 2's 2025 Expansion Plans
Destiny 2's already teased the new expansions coming this 2025, with Bungie talking about how it will all unfold soon. First, there is the Codename: Apollo which is scheduled for Summer 2025, and will kickstart its latest venture for delivering the latest of what it has to offer.
Bungie also shared the next one which is called Codename: Behemoth, expected to arrive by Winter 2025.
No further details were shared by Bungie in this release, but more information are coming in the future, as promised.
Destiny 2 is Still Going Strong Seven Years In
Bungie first unveiled Destiny 2 in 2017 and released the game in the same year, and this followed its original online first-person shooter (FPS) title of the same name which first arrived in 2014. Despite it being a seven-year game, Destiny 2 stands strong in the test of time, being regarded as one of the most iconic action-shooters of this era.
It is known for surviving different challenges it faced along the way, including cutting ties with Activision Blizzard in 2019 as Bungie obtained the full publishing rights to the franchise.
One of the most iconic experiences in the renowned space shooter is its regular expansion releases throughout the years, and has been widely anticipated by fans as it delivers new content and experiences.
There are still no plans from Bungie to work on Destiny 3, as these rumors were recently shut down by the developers.That being said, its current focus now is to give users more to enjoy in its MMO FPS by offering two expansions per year, taking effect this 2025.
