Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is the latest subject of several rumors lately.

Some people have already seen its early look across several platforms, but the latest insider information will give us a glimpse of why it could beat other foldable handsets in the market.

To give you a preview, it's previously rumored to be the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim which we reported in July.

The most recent insider information reveals that the Samsung Z Fold Special Edition will sport a thinner profile than its predecessors. What about its displays?

Previously, there are leaked renders that we have seen from Android Headlines. According to the reputable tech publication, it somewhat looks like the Z Fold 6 when it comes to design.

Well, things may change with the Special Edition and Samsung needs to make it more impressive than its predecessor. The most noticeable update we could expect from this model is its thinner appearance which will enhance its maneuverability.

Improved Portability Thanks to Thinner and Lighter Design

According to Phone Arena, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition was the older Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim we have seen from older rumors. Samsung might have done this for marketing purposes.

What's interesting here is its thickness which boasts 4.9mm in depth when it's unfolded. For reference, the Z Fold 6 is only 5.6 mm in this state.

In terms of folded state, the rumored foldable model will sport 10.6mm thick. Through this change, it's now easier to carry it. However, it still won't be enough to compete with other Chinese smartphone brands when it comes to slimness.

On r/Android subreddit, Mishaal Rahman wrote that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim which is the Special Edition now, may not be as thin as its Chinese rivals. This means that it cannot beat Honor Magic V3 in this category, but it will soon be one of the most portable Samsung foldables.

Stylish New Back Panel and Enhanced Camera

Beyond its slimmer profile, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will feature a stylish new back panel finish. While it may appear metallic, this finish is expected to mimic the look of metal rather than using the actual material, giving it a more premium feel compared to the glossy Z Fold 6.

Another notable upgrade is the camera system. The Z Fold 6 only has a 50 MP camera but the Z Fold Special Edition will have a 200MP primary sensor. For mobile photographers, this is a game-changer they badly need.

Larger Displays for an Immersive Experience

The leaked render and information point to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition boasting larger displays than the Z Fold 6. From having 6.3 and 7.6-inch screens with Z Fold 6, the upcoming model is expected to have an 8-inch display. In fact, its display sizes surpass those of competitors like the Honor Magic V3, OnePlus Open, and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

How Much Will the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition Cost?

Since it's anticipated to feature premium design and features, it might be a few steps away from being the best foldable. However, the challenge in purchasing it might come with its projected price tag which could exceed $2,000.

As of this writing, no information has yet been released about its availability. However, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition could first hit the Chinese and Korean markets. The global launch might come at a later date.
