Enjoying on-device karaoke on YouTube Music may leave some users dismayed as its live lyrics feature, which it introduced last year, is broken for both the Android and iOS apps. The user interface of live lyrics, which automatically highlights the lyrics and scrolls for users while syncing to the song playing, is not working according to the latest spotting.

A new report from 9to5Google confirms that for most songs on YouTube Music, its live lyrics feature is broken, and this will prevent users from jamming to the track they wish to sing with. The report stated that out of the top 25 songs in the United States list, 13 cannot run live lyrics for users.

This latest report also revealed that old and new songs are affected by the said issue. Moreover, the problem with live lyrics also prevails on both LyricsFind and Musixmatch, which supply YouTube Music with song lines.

Additionally, both iOS and Android versions of YouTube Music are affected by the still unknown problem, with the web being the exception as it never got live lyrics.

Google and YouTube Music have yet to address the issue and share a fix, but it was speculated by 9to5Google that it may only be a "server-side issue" that can easily be solved.

Auto Highlights are Not Working on YouTube Music

Users may find themselves in a pickle when bringing up lyrics as auto-highlights for specific lines, and scrolling automatically does not work on YouTube Music. However, it is essential to note that it only has live lyrics that are not working, as YouTube Music will still provide the track's entire lines for users to read.

These lyrics will be in a smaller font, will not be highlighted or scrolled automatically, and will not overlay the lyrics on the song's album cover.

YouTube Music and What It Has to Offer

Leveraging the massive library of YouTube and the many audio-only songs and music videos available gave YouTube Music a massive advantage when it first launched in 2015. Almost a decade later, Google celebrated a massive milestone for its paid services, claiming that both YouTube Music and YouTube Premium achieved a milestone having over 100 million subscribers and counting.

The latest design of YouTube Music's UI offers an intuitive Now Playing page where users may add and read comments easily, inviting the community to chime in on tracks.

Moreover, among the most recent new features on YouTube Music is a way to find songs only by humming their melody or singing a part of it with lyrics.

Despite the steep competition that YouTube Music faces, it is still a thriving platform with many offers available for subscribers.

Among these top features is live lyrics, but reports now claim that this is broken, with YouTube Music yet to acknowledge the issue and deliver a fix to bring this experience back.
