A new feature is rolling out now on YouTube Music with the 'sound search' made available to all users of the platform in the United States, for Premium subscribers to access. On the other hand, the music streaming app expanded more on its generative AI radio that will create a station for users but is still under the experimental testing program.

The latest from YouTube Music is here, and according to 9to5Mac, the feature where users only need to hum or sing out the song they wish to find is now available for all to access on the app. The said feature is called 'Sound Search," and it offers a way to search for songs by matching the beats or sounds made by a person, or by recording music playing in the background.

Users may access the feature by clicking the Search magnifying glass icon that would take them to the classic text field, but instead of typing in their query, there is the 'waveform'-like icon that represents the new feature.

Clicking this would take users to a new UI that will record whatever sound is playing, and the app will be responsible for finding what they are looking for.

Generative AI Radio Expands Testing on YouTube Music US

On the other hand, the experimental feature known as 'generative AI radio' which was first introduced last May under testing now expands to more users in the US with active Premium subscriptions. This takes advantage of the generative AI available on YouTube Music and will help create a station based on the prompts given to the app, meticulously matching the description or information shared by a user.

YouTube Music and What It Has to Offer

One of the best-known music streaming platforms in the world is Google's YouTube Music, leveraging the content the main video streaming platform has to offer, with a massive focus on audio experiences. It is known that earlier this year, YouTube Music celebrated a milestone where it achieved 100 million subscribers to the services alongside YouTube Premium, and is expected to grow more.

Over the past months, Google's massive developments in its generative AI experiences were made available to the music streaming platform to deliver more for users to access, made easily with the new tech. Google's Gemini multimodal model also features a YouTube Music extension that helps play songs using prompts, making it easier to discover more songs using the AI.

In the recent updates and new features introduced by YouTube Music, it delivered sound search and generative AI radio available via the platform for its US Premium subscribers to get their hands on. One of them is available now for all to access, using sound search to find songs directly on the platform like Shazam, with its generative AI radio expanding more on its experiments, now made more available to many.
