Fans of the Yakuza series were eagerly anticipating a physical release for the upcoming Nintendo Switch version of Yakuza Kiwami. However, recent announcements from the developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have dashed those hopes.

Potential for Future Physical Release

While the initial release will be digital-only, there is a possibility that a physical edition might be offered in the future. Do not let your hopes die early since this could happen anytime. Regardless, the popularity of the Yakuza franchise and the success of the Switch version could influence the developer's decision.

Comparison to Other Games

Some other high-profile games, such as the Alan Wake 2, have also opted for digital-only releases initially. However, the positive reception and the strong sales of these games have led to the release of physical editions at a later date. If we're lucky, we could see the same scenario happening to Yakuza Kiwami.

Yakuza Kiwami: A Classic Remake

Yakuza Kiwami is a beloved remake of the original Yakuza game, released in 2005. The game follows Kazuma Kiryu, a former yakuza member who must navigate a dangerous world after being wrongfully imprisoned.

Engaging Storyline and Memorable Characters

Yakuza Kiwami boasts a compelling narrative, memorable characters, and intense action gameplay. The game's blend of drama, humor, and political intrigue has made it a fan favorite.

While the lack of a physical release for Yakuza Kiwami on Nintendo Switch may be disappointing for some, the game's digital availability and its strong reputation make it a worthwhile addition to any Switch library.

Fans of the Yakuza series can look forward to experiencing this classic title on the popular handheld console. As of now, this is already good news, especially for those who have been waiting for its Switch version for years.

According to TechRadar, Yakuza Kiwami will hut the shelves on Oct. 25. At that time, it will cost around £14.99 or $19.99. In the meantime, you can play the previous Yakuza installments to retrace the history of the series before the Switch version comes out.

In other news, Sony said that the suggested retail price of PlayStation 5 will increase by 19%. However, this only applies to units sold in Japan. The change took effect on Monday, Sept. 2.
