A faster and more powerful electric hypercar was unveiled by Rimac to the world, and it is called the Nevera R whichbrings massive new improvements to the previous, already ludicrous, Nevera. From being a Hyper GT, which stands for 'Grand Tourer,' the clean energy car transforms into its full-pledged electric hypercar that is heavily focused on performance.

The original Nevera made waves in the automotive and clean energy industry, among the pioneers in the electric sports car market, which many automakers have introduced as concepts.

Rimac unveiled its new and improved electric car, with the Nevera R named its first-ever hypercar in production, following its iconic Nevera GT. It is important to note that while the original Nevera already holds the fastest production car and EV in the world, it is not a hypercar per se, as it prioritizes comfort for long rides, designed as a Grand Tourer.

The new Nevera R takes a step further than the Nevera with its significant upgrades introduced in this release, promising a "lighter, faster, and more focused" version said Rimac.

First off, it can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 1.74 seconds, and while that sounds the same as its previous record, it is faster by a tenth of a second.

The Nevera R also brings 2,107 horsepower, 200hp more than its predecessor. There is also its new R-AWTV (All-Wheel Torque Vectoring) that promises better control, especially on roads and tracks.

Rimac also brings a 108kWh battery pack which promises 250 miles of range but remains to be certified. The Rimac Nevera R would be a limited production EV with only 40 units to be made available, priced at $2.5 million apiece.

Rimac's Nevera and The Records It Set

As early as 2016, Rimac has been making a name for itself as the next-in-line to claim the throne for an electric car that was made to compete against the fastest internal combustion engines (ICEs) in the world. However, it was only in 2021 when the Croatian startup officially unveiled the Nevera, previously known as the Concept_Two which was its first production-ready EV.

In its 2023 test held on Germany's Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP) facility, Rimac broke 23 records in only a day, beating previous holders like the Bugatti Chiron and the Koenigsegg Agera RS. First off, it was able to set a zero to 60 mph acceleration record in only 1.74 seconds, as well as a zero to 100 mph in 3.23 seconds, down to holding the fastest time to achieve zero to 250 mph in 21.89 seconds, all doing so in less than half a minute.

However, innovations do not stop there for the Croatian clean energy automotive company as there are more to holding records for its current Nevera.

With its introduction of the full-pledged hypercar, the Nevera R promises a more adept sports car that prioritizes performance over comforts from its GT origins, shaving tenths of a second to its acceleration record, with 200 more horsepower than its predecessor.
