Among the most anticipated showcases here include Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Funcom's Dune: Awakening, and more confirmed titles.
Gamescom Opening Night Live: Here are the Announcements Coming
Geoff Keighley has revealed six titles for the upcoming Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase that will be livestreamed online this Tuesday, August 20 at 11 AM PT, 2 PM ET, or 8 PM CEST. The host claimed that these are only "some" of the games that have so far been confirmed for the upcoming showcase, but there are more to expect on the main stage.
Moreover, Keighley said that there would be game announcements to be made in the upcoming event.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Activision Blizzard, Raven Software, and Treyarch Games confirmed that its next action-shooter FPS installation would be Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with the franchise moving away from its remakes of the Modern Warfare series.
The team unveiled its first trailer last June and later followed it up with information about its gameplay, pre-order bonuses, and early access. The game will make a showcase this Gamescom 2024, and it will be released later this October 25.
Dune: Awakening
Despite Funcom's recent announcement of Dune: Awakening's early access delay to 2025, there is still a massive hype brewing behind the title, with many eagerly anticipating the title. This would be the first Dune game based on the novel series which would offer an open-world experience, allowing gamers to explore Arrakis and more soon.
Gamescom will reveal more gameplay footage as Keighley confirmed last week, with more information following soon.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
One of 2024's most anticipated games is from Bethesda Softworks and Machine Games, with their AAA development of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a new story-based RPG coming to Xbox and PC. There are speculations that it would not be exclusive to the Xbox Series S and X only, with its Gamescom showcase hoped to be the time when more information would be shared by developers.
Marvel Rivals
The third-person PvP shooter from Marvel Entertainment and NetEase Games is also making a Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase next week, with the team revealing more about Marvel Rivals and what it has to offer.
It was only announced to the world earlier this year, but it already saw a massive following as it brings favorite Marvel heroes and villains to the action. There are still no confirmed release dates for the game, and hopefully, more will be shared through its Gamescom showcase.
Monster Hunter Wilds
CAPCOM's upcoming action role-playing game (RPG) that would continue one of its most iconic franchises, Monster Hunter Wilds, was initially introduced last Summer Game Fest, but it will yet again debut on Gamescom to share more with its fans.
Sid Meier's Civilization VII
There is not much known from Sid Meier's Civilization VII, but it is known that it will share a full reveal of the upcoming game this August, in line with its Gamescom Opening Night Live appearance, as confirmed by Keighley.
