Rumors are now sparking hope for fans, as Apple is still considering a larger computer to explore in the future, with the company reportedly still developing this and would feature as much as 30 inches of display. This new computer may be the biggest iMac release yet should Apple continue developing and introducing it to the world in the coming years.
This also calls to speculation that Apple may be developing an iMac Pro revamp, with the renowned computer known for being discontinued more than three years ago.
Apple is Developing a 30-inch iMac Desktop For the Future
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman talked about new Apple devices coming, and among those, he also unveiled that Cupertino is currently working on a larger iMac, one that would feature a 30-inch display. This is six inches larger than its current iMac which only features a 24-inch screen, three inches larger than its Studio Display, and two inches smaller than the 6K Pro Display XDR.
The largest iMac Apple developed was the 27-inch variant which last saw Intel as its processor, and has since been discontinued. The same fate was placed on its iMac Pro which it delisted from its websites and no longer offered in stores.
Moreover, last year saw several reports of a larger iMac development from Apple, with Cupertino later confirming that it has no plans for this whatsoever.
Is This a Revamp of Apple's iMac Pro?
MacRumors speculated that this 30-inch iMac may likely be the iMac Pro revamp that Ming-Chi Kuo talked about before. That being said, two reputable analysts Kuo and Gurman talked about this larger iMac development multiple times, with the Bloomberg source mentioning it again in his latest report, on Apple's experiments.
Apple's iMac Development
There may be a slump that Apple stumbled upon in its development of the renowned desktop computer, the iMac, as it has been slow in its rollout of new experiences and upgrades to the device. The last one for Apple was in 2023 during its Scary Fast event with its announcement of the new iMac, but it remains the 24-inch computer with its vibrant colors, only seeing the M3 chipset power it.
Its previous update before that was in 2021 when it introduced the revamped iMac which is what it currently looks like today, complete with the flat-edge design, with this particular one being the first to upgrade from Intel to the M1.
Moreover, the same year, Apple also turned its back on the iMac Pro, leaving it behind with the Intel processor, with it no longer getting a taste of the M-series despite public enthusiasm.
With every new chip development from Apple, analysts and speculators claim that Cupertino is working to bring back the iMac Pro to the world, but so far, there are no confirmations yet behind this. The latest claim now is pointing towards a larger iMac coming, one that would have 30 inches of display and the newest M-series chip, speculated to be a second coming of the iMac Pro.
