Elon Musk's reign of changes for X is not yet over, as a new report revealed that the social media company is moving out of its iconic San Francisco, California headquarters soon. This was said to have been announced and confirmed by X's current CEO, Linda Yaccarino, telling its employees that they will soon vacate the San Francisco office and make their move.
There are still no official announcements to the public regarding this move, but the X CEO already announced to employees that it will take place in the coming weeks.
X to Officially Leave San Francisco, Twitter's OG Headquarters
The latest happening on X's end is its plan to reportedly leave San Francisco behind, best known as the original Twitter headquarters, with the company known for staying there for almost two decades. According to The New York Times report, the announcement was made by X CEO Linda Yaccarino, and has confirmed to employees that they will move to new locations.
Its upcoming move remains unconfirmed by the X owner, Elon Musk, and this was after the bold claim from the tech mogul about moving out from its California office in favor of Austin, Texas.
Since 2022, Musk has seen run-ins with San Francisco's authorities for X's operations, including the giant X sign atop the building, as well as the lawsuit it faced from being unable to pay rent.
Where is X's Operations Going After Leaving SF?
It was revealed that Yaccarino's announcements pointed out various locations for X's departure from San Francisco, with the first one centering on sharing xAI's offices in Palo Alto. On the other hand, it was also revealed by the X CEO that other employees will be working in several locations in San Jose, CA, but did not mention Musk's wish to move X to Texas.
Twitter's San Francisco HQ and Elon Musk
Since being founded by Jack Dorsey in mid-2006, Twitter has found its home in San Francisco, California, and it is known to be close to the heart of Silicon Valley, just south of the Bay Area. This was also the same home of Twitter when Elon Musk took over in 2022, and there has been a previous controversy about its missed rent payments to its landlord under the billionaire.
However, it is known that Musk has since favored Texas as the center of his businesses, and this stems from a move in 2021 where the tech mogul shifted Tesla's headquarters from Palo Alto, CA to Austin.
Earlier this year, the same move was made by Musk when he officially transferred SpaceX's incorporation to Texas from Delaware, with its headquarters soon following.
Elon Musk's Texas operations already include several of his top companies, with Tesla in Austin and SpaceX which has a massive facility known as Starbase found in Boca Chica.
It was only last month when Musk made a massive announcement of moving X's HQ over to Austin, TX, and now, its CEO is telling the employees that they are leaving San Francisco soon.
