Analyst Claims Apple's First Foldable Device Might Not Hit 2025 Launch

We might not see the rumored foldable iPad next year.

We might not see Apple's first foldable iPad in action next year, according to Haitong Securities analyst Jeff Pu. With this, the delay is already foreseen, but this might pave the way for the redesigned iPhone 17 and the potential debut of the Slim model.

Looking further ahead, Pu expects the Cupertino giant to unveil its first foldable devices in 2026.

The Foldable Future: iPads and iPhones

Pu highlights Apple's focus on foldable devices, with plans to introduce both foldable iPads and iPhones by 2026. Although a foldable iPad was initially expected in late 2025, concerns about display durability have pushed the timeline back, according to MacRumors.

The foldable iPad is projected to feature a 20.3-inch display when unfolded, while the foldable iPhone might adopt a design similar to Samsung's Z Flip. Apple aims to eliminate the crease in the display when folded, enhancing its attractiveness to consumers.

iPhone 17: A Redesign with Advanced Features

The iPhone 17 is poised to drive significant sales due to its innovative features and fresh design. Pu suggests that the new model will include Apple Intelligence features, increased memory, and a compelling new design. This anticipated upgrade cycle will likely attract users who purchased iPhones between 2021 and 2023 and are now ready for an upgrade.

This marks the first mention of a redesigned iPhone 17, with Apple expected to retain the Dynamic Island design. However, the under-panel Face ID technology is not expected until the iPhone 18 Pro.

It's noteworthy to mention that the base model iPhone 17 will reportedly feature an Always-On Display and ProMotion technology, enhancing its appeal.

Is the iPhone 17 Slim Coming?

Apple's rumored iPhone 17 Slim could also boost sales by replacing the Plus version with a higher-end model. This new iPhone is expected to start at around $1,299, making it the most expensive iPhone to date.

Despite its sleek, ultra-thin design, the iPhone 17 Slim will include an A19 chip, 8 GB of RAM, and two main cameras. However, it may be seen as underpowered and overpriced compared to the iPhone 17 Pro.

If the iPhone 17 Slim is indeed coming a year from now, the death of the iPhone 16 Plus will be imminent.
