A recent revelation from Max's post via X introduced a new feature for its subscribers to enjoy on iOS devices, adopting the renowned experience called SharePlay. This renowned Apple feature was introduced on iOS 15 back in 2021 and is available for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac's eligible operating system versions to stream movies, series, or songs while on FaceTime.

This feature offers simultaneous streams that would play the said media in real time for both users, ensuring that nobody is left out when watching a show.

Max now adopts this feature for the iOS platform and eligible devices but is only available to its Ad-Free and Ultimate Ad-Free subscribers.

How Max's SharePlay Works for Simultaneous Streams

First and foremost, there is a caveat to Max's SharePlay feature, as it would only allow Max subscribers to host or join the watch parties. Users may launch Max SharePlay experiences via the app media player's 'Share' button or create one via FaceTime.

Max allows a single SharePlay session for up to 32 participants. That being said, Max is still exclusive to North and South America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Max's Streaming Platform and What it Offers

Amidst the blow-up of the pandemic more than four years ago, Warner Bros. introduced its take on an OTT platform branded under its renowned television channel, HBO, with HBO Max launched for the world. Apart from the renownedHBO Originals available to stream on the platform, it is also known for partnering with Crunchyroll to expand more on its Japanese anime content for subscribers.

Its next major move was the significant merger deal between Warner Bros. and Discovery back in 2022 amounting to $43 billion, best known for its decision to combine HBO Max and Discovery+ into one. This merger gave birth to its centralized streaming platform known as Max released in 2023, offering the best of the previous individual experiences into one.

Earlier this year, Max went on towards Netflix and Disney+'s route which centers on a password-sharing crackdown amongst its users that will no longer allow different households to share one account.

Notable features are available on Max that help improve streaming, with the latest one offering SharePlay for iOS over FaceTime, but is exclusive to its Ad-Free subscriptions only.
