The United States' fastest 5G telco, T-Mobile, is now facing a class-action lawsuit for its T-Mobile One's 'Un-contract' promise to users, infamously known for offering a lifetime price assurance to its subscribers. It is because of the most recent price hike effected by T-Mobile for the subscribers under the program despite the previous advertisement ofspecific prices for life.
Users who have subscribed or purchased a T-Mobile One subscription because of this promise are now fighting against the Big Tech, looking for more plaintiffs who wish to join the class.
T-Mobile One's 'Un-contract' Faces Class Action Lawsuit
A recent class-action lawsuit has been filed against T-Mobile for their ONE plan's 'Un-contract' promise which is best known for guaranteeing a "lifetime price" for those who are under it. There are currently four plaintiffs who are heading the class and bringing the fight over to T-Mobile's doorstep, representing all those who are affected by it.
The lawsuit also covers customers who are under the Simple Choice, Magenta, Magenta Max, Magenta 55+, Magenta Amplified, and Magenta Military Plan with T-Mobile.
It was revealed that T-Mobile raised the prices in these plans without the consent of these individuals, further claiming that this violated the telco's claims.
Lifetime Price Guarantee Saw a Recent Price Hike
T-Mobile recently effected a price hike amongst its customers, affecting those who were guaranteed the lifetime promise and is now the focus of the lawsuit. The class action is seeking punitive and statutory damages from the company, as well as an injunction that would prevent future scrutinies like this from happening.
It specifically targets the claim from T-Mobile which said that it "will never change" the said prices.
T-Mobile's Un-Contract and Price Hikes
The promise of "forever" or "lifetime" may only be heard on wedding vows or for criminals who have committed heinous acts, but T-Mobile coined this word in 2015 when it offered the 'Un-contract' program under T-Mobile One. It was regarded that T-Mobile would not raise the prices for subscriptions under the program for a minimum of two years, and it also allowed users the freedom to choose other plans.
That being said, earlier this May, T-Mobile has effected a wide price hike which affected all of its postpaid plans offered to the public, and this also included those who are part of its legacy plans. The likes of T-Mobile's Simple Choice and ONE were affected by this move, starting at $2 to as much as $5 more than their previous pricing applied by the company.
However, it is not so much as a promise of forever or a lifetime from the company with the recent price hikes which tothe surprise of those who are part of it, changed drastically. The latest class-action lawsuit against T-Mobile is already underway, looking for more customers who want to join this complaint, and want justice on their end because of this entire 'Un-contract' fiasco.
