Rivian announced that its first Charging Outpost is now open near Yosemite National Park in California, opening its doors to visitors who pass by or near the location. This charging site is located in Groveland, California, and is 24 miles away from Yosemite, using an abandoned gas station to build its clean energy hub for travelers.

The Rivian Yosemite Charging Outpost is open from 7 AM to 7 PM for the public to visit, offering bathrooms, lounges, an onsite library, and a shop that sells essential goods and Rivian merchandise.

The company claimed that the lounge's furniture is sustainable, offering seats made of second-hand and upcycled puffer jackets and sleeping bags, with its tables made of sawdust.

What Does Rivian's First Charging Outpost Offer?

First and foremost, the Rivian Yosemite Charging Outpost offers five DC fast chargers on site that are open for 24 hours, seven days a week but are exclusive to Rivian EVs only. On the other hand, the rest stop offers complimentary coffee, a water refilling station, and a "make your own" trail mix which is sold separately.

The company claims that more Charging outposts will arrive in the future, available in other iconic locations.

Rivian EVs and Its Renowned Charging Network

One of the main strengths of Rivian's electric vehicles is that it is built to take adventure to the next-level with clean energy, and this is apparent with its electric pickup, the R1T, as well as the R1S. Since its debut and initial test drive videos, it has impressed users with what it has to offer, centering on its off-road capabilities, all-wheel drive feats, and more.

Later on, Rivian introduced what would accompany its off-road capabilities, and this is the Adventure Network whichoffers off-site charging for its EVs, as well as for other brands and ports. The company first launched this in 2022 and focused on off-grid destinations in Colorado and California, and it was first offering Level 3 DC fast chargers for users.

The drive goes on even in remote locations for Rivian, and its expansion of its charging network is not only focused on paved roads but also for its availability near and on trails. Rivian's first Charging Outpost is already open in Yosemite for all to enjoy and take advantage of its amenities, but fast charging is exclusive to its electric vehicles only.
