The future of Meta's Quest is strong, with a new roadmap leak detailing the upcoming releases of the company that will expand on its current lineup of wearables. In the latest report, it unveiled three new headsets coming from Meta under the Quest brand that will soon deliver significant experiences to users, speculated for both VR and XR features for all.
Meta Quest Roadmap Leaks: Three New Headsets Coming
A new Meta Quest roadmap leak surfaced from The Information, detailing the future of the tech company's developments which claimed that three new headsets are slated for later years. First off, there already are existing reports behind Meta's plans to deliver a budget version of its XR headset that will be called Meta Quest 3S.
In this latest roadmap, three devices will be coming from the company, with the Meta Quest 4 coming as a two-variant release codenamed Pismo Low and Pismo High. These two variants would focus on a main device called the Quest 4, and like the Quest 3S, there would also be a budget model called the Quest 4S.
On the other hand, Meta's successor to the original Quest Pro would see the Quest Pro 2 soon.
What and When to Expect Meta Quest's New Tech?
The roadmap detailed the timelines for Meta's upcoming Quest headsets, with the two Quest 4 wearables slated for a 2026 release date, around two years from now. Next, Meta will be delivering the Quest Pro 2 by 2027, similar to earlier reports behind it.
Meta will not focus on a new headset by next year as it will expand on more third-party apps and games by 2025, but this year's Meta Connect event would deliver the Quest 3S, the budget version of its XR headset.
Meta Quest and its Wearable Developments
Since its Oculus days, Meta's Quest lineup has been popular among the gaming and lifestyle communities who want virtual reality experiences to be part of their arsenal. To date, there is already a mixed-reality headset from Meta in the form of the Quest 3, and it is accompanied by its first Quest Pro which is currently its most expensive device yet.
It was previously revealed by an earlier Meta roadmap leak for the Quest lineup that it will prioritize mixed reality and VR for the time being, pushing back its AR glasses venture to 2027. This specific AR glasses was said to succeed its Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses device which would offer more than being a camera for Instagram and deliver proper augmented reality features.
Earlier leaks also claimed that Quest Pro 2's development is pushed back to 2027, almost five years since its first model came out from Meta. That being said, the latest roadmap leak also revealed that the future of wearables from Meta would also see later dates, with a previously-leaked Quest 3S, to be followed by the three new ones including Meta's Quest 4 and 4S, as well as the Quest Pro 2.
