For many, nothing can beat the good ol' days and the experiences they bring, but modern technology allowed users to modernize these but still capture the retro vibes, including FiiO's CP13. Now, the company released a transparent version of its modern retro cassette player that will show the renowned analog format spinning inside, showcasing the long-time music icon.

This latest from Fiio is a homage to renowned cassette players which introduced portable and pocketable music for all, reminiscent of the original icon, the Sony Walkman.

FiiO released the latest version of its CP13 family which is known to deliver cassette players that deliver the retro music experience for all, and in its new release, there is now the transparent version of the device (via DigitalTrends). This adds to its current lineup including red, blue, white, and the black transparent version, all available via the FiiO's website or retailers.

The FiiO CP13 is essentially the same device as the ones released earlier this year, but the transparent edition offers a better look inside the device where users get to see the cassettes with its tapes spinning.

It offers as much as 13 hours of battery life, with a custom-balanced amplication head, op-amp JRC5532, USB-C charging, and its 3.5mm jack that is the only way to hear music.

Retro Music: CP13 is Reminiscent of Sony Walkman

This retro music device from Fiio does not feature Bluetooth which means that users need to go wired with the device, and it is fitting for what it represents, a homage to the Sony Walkman.

It supports Type I to IV audio cassettes for a wide-range of listening, boasting of its 4.2V high-voltage motor that was made to play different types of tapes.

Cassette Players and Its Revival

Retro and old-school tech have long been seeing revivals because of pop culture, but some are known for preserving or restoring these gadgets that allow the present generation to experience the top developments of the past. However, the likes of Sony are also known for reinventing its old technology, particularly its cassette taps which it developed into a format that could hold 47 million songs

Sony's Walkmans are arguably one of the most popular cassette players of the past, but the company showed no plans to revive this discontinued technology which uses the old format anymore. However, it is important to note that the Walkmans were not shut down, rather, these evolved into CD players, and later, played digital audio formats and still exist after 45 years.

Some purists believe that old-school and retro technologies are the best way to experience the media, with many reviving the likes of film photography and videography, as well as cassettes and vinyl for music. FiiO was among those who revived this but added a modern twist to it, with its CP13 now debuting its transparent version which shows the full glory of the tapes inside.
