An upcoming new feature for Google Maps will soon offer collaborative navigation among multiple drivers and bring all users to one destination, allowing them to stay connected along the way. This feature could be used in multiple scenarios, including friends, family, or colleagues going to one destination but having to go in separate vehicles, with Google Maps ensuring a real-time shared experience.

No more getting left behind on a trip, as this latest discovery on Google Maps would allow everyone to join in on a trip in a carpool or convoy.

Google Maps: Collaborative Navigation for Multiple Drivers Coming Soon?

Analysts and insiders Igilta and xleaks (David Kowalski) shared their latest discovery of a Google patent that the company recently filed regarding a collaborative navigation experience for the Google Maps app. This feature, called "Co-Navigate," allows various Google Maps users to join a certain trip on their way to a single destination.

The patent detailed what the new feature would bring for users, and this co-navigation would help connect all the users during the trip despite them not riding in the same car.

Igilta noted that most navigation apps were made for 'solo travelers,' and most get different routes depending on what the app suggests, and this may lead to confusion.

Real-Time Updates, Staying Connected on a Trip with Google Maps

Instead of getting confused when traveling separately, Google Maps' co-navigation would help connect different users or drivers under one route, keeping each other updated in real-time. Google Maps would also allow you to send notifications, share travel progress, add suggested meet-up places, help with parking, and more in the future.

Google Maps and Its Renowned Features Available Now

One of the oldest and most used Google apps among its massive offerings is Maps. Since 2005, the app has seen massive updates and changes that modernized the experience, especially during the smartphone and infotainment system era. Since Google introduced AI with what it has to offer, Google Maps also received generative AI features that now help with suggestions and more.

There are many purposes for Google Maps; some use it to navigate a new country through walking or commuting, while many use it to plan trips to destinations using private vehicles. Earlier this year, Google Maps launched massive new features that help with trip planning needs, which are available for iOS and Android users.

Google Maps is one of the most advanced and extensive, with geographic locations in multiple countries worldwide and accessibility on multiple devices and platforms.

The next feature of Google Maps is a way to co-navigate on a certain trip. This new collaborative feature allows groups to get together more easily without leaving anyone behind.
