This conflict with Brazil erupted earlier this year, particularly when X refused to follow its order to take down posts and block certain social media accounts.

X's Latest Statement Against Justice de Moraes

It is known that X was previously fined 100,000 real ($18,000) per day for its failure to follow the said order. However, the new orders have significantly increased this fine to as much as 700,000 real or $126,000 daily after this defiance.

X claimed it abided by its order and withheld posts in Brazil the next day. Additionally, according to the company, a new order from de Moraes fined X 100,000 real per offensive post on X.

The social media claimed that they had already paid the fine, but de Moraes kept increasing the fines, claiming that it contradicted his past order and was a "clear denial of due process" for X's end.

X and its Brazil Conflict

Elon Musk's leadership of X is best known for its massive shift in policies and guidelines. The owner centered on free speech as the platform's focus, inviting controversies since his takeover. It was reiterated over the years that the then-social media Twitter would center on "absolute free speech," a platform where almost all ideas and opinions are accepted.

This year, Musk and X were on hot waters in Brazil after it declined to follow its Supreme Court's orders, particularly that of Justice de Moraes, who asked the platform to take down several posts and block accounts. After this, an investigation against Musk was ordered, and X faced a fine from the Brazilian Supreme Court of $19,740 per day until they blocked the accounts and removed the posts.

However, until now, Musk and X have stood their ground against Brazil and claimed to prioritize free speech over everything else as one of the main focuses of social media platforms. The recent clarification from X regarding their side in this conflict with Brazil looks to make the world understand their side, with Musk having strong words against Justice de Moraes in the latest debacle.
