X is facing, yet again, another threat of being banned in Indonesia, but now, it is not because of a misunderstanding and is pointing out its recent policy change, which straight-up allowed porn content on social media. The threat talked about a possible ban for Elon Musk's X as it violates the country's laws that prohibit pornography content distribution.
Previously, Musk's Twitter name change to X also triggered a possible ban for the platform, but after verifying that it was social media, it was pulled back.
X Indonesia Ban Threats Surface Again Due to Porn Content
Indonesia recently revealed a threat of ban against X's entire social media platform after it allowed displaying pornographic content on the platform, according to Reuters' recent report. Indicating that this potential ban might take place if X doesn't comply, Indonesia's Minister of Communications and Informatics, Budi Arie Setiadi, revealed this.
The Southeast Asian country has a law passed in 2008 called the 'Pornography Law,' which disallows the distribution of explicit content.
According to Setiadi, X has already received a letter of warning regarding a possible ban on the country if it does not comply, and reportedly, Musk has not yet responded to it.

X's Second Time to Face Possible Ban in Indonesia
PC Mag reported that this is Musk and X's second time facing a possible ban on social media in Indonesia, as previously, it was because of Twitter's name change. The Indonesian government previously thought that 'X.com' was a porn site and temporarily blocked the platform in the country, but it was later clarified that it is a social media network and not an adult website.
Elon Musk Allowing Porn on X
There has been unfiltered and unnoticed porn content on Twitter/X circulating for a long time now, but with Musk's takeover of the platform, it has since seen a focus from the company. Earlier this March, it was reported that X tested hiding porn content or NSFW posts on the platform in special groups, one where users may get a chance to join, view, and share behind closed doors.
Moreover, Elon Musk believes in free speech, and this means extreme measures, including the reinstitution of previously banned accounts, seeing looser guidelines regarding controversial topics, and of course, porn. This June, X's new content policy for pornography and explicit content was revealed, officially allowing these kinds of materials and designating them as 'artistic expression.'
While these documents are hidden behind a consent notice, they also allow AI-generated content, following a recent fiasco with Taylor Swift where she was deepfaked into disturbing and explicit scenarios.
Now, X is facing another scrutiny for X's porn content, and this time, it is with Indonesia and its law against pornography distribution, and non-compliance from the company may lead to it being banned.
