Another day, another Tesla recall.
The American automaker has issued another physical recall for its Cybertruck model. This time, nearly 12,000 electric pickups are affected because of problems with the windshield wiper and bed trim.
What's With the Bed Trim Issue?
The first recall involves the sail applique on the Cybertruck's bed trim. This cosmetic piece, secured with adhesive, may not have been installed according to Tesla's specifications.
As a result, it can become loose or even detach from the vehicle. Tesla has confirmed several reports of the trim part detaching from the bed, prompting the recall notice to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
"Tesla service will apply adhesion promoter and pressure sensitive tape or replace missing applique as necessary, free of charge," a separate NHTSA notice says regarding the trim.
Tesla has assured that all affected vehicles, specifically those built since May 26, 2024, totaling 11,383 units, will receive either a replacement or a rework of the sail applique. This service will be performed at no charge to the customer, ensuring that the applique meets the required specifications and maintains secure adhesion to the vehicle's deck rail.
What About the Windshield Wiper Motor Recall?
In addition to the bed trim issue, Tesla has issued a second recall concerning the Cybertruck's windshield wiper motor.
This problem is related to the motor controller, which may fail due to electrical overstress affecting the gate driver component.
As Electrek reports, the EV giant had previously paused Cybertruck deliveries due to this defect, confirming that the issue impacts all vehicles manufactured since June 6, 2024-totaling 11,688 units.
Tesla has collaborated with its suppliers, Valeo (Tier 1) and USI (Tier 2), to diagnose and address the problem. The company will replace the windshield wiper motor on all affected Cybertrucks, ensuring the functionality and reliability of the wiper system.
