Apple will add on a new AI partner, it would be with Meta.

There may be a new collaboration coming from Apple and Meta, as a recent report suggested they are discussing bringing another AI model for iOS 18 to access. This will be available under Apple Intelligence, the latest AI experience coming soon for iPhones and other devices, best known for its original partnership with OpenAI using ChatGPT.

It would be the first time Apple and Meta would collaborate after facing tumultuous years of tech rivalry, including Facebook's massive criticism of the App Store commission, among many others.

Apple, Meta in Talks for AI Partnership on iOS 18

The latest report from the Wall Street Journal suggested that Apple and Meta are now discussing a possible partnership to bring new AI models from the social media company to Cupertino's iOS 18. This is similar to the 'talk' Apple had with OpenAI before, and while it was initially rumored, ChatGPT ended up coming to the different Apple operating systems.

Currently, both parties are only discussing the partnership they would have to bring more AI models into Apple Intelligence, and there are still no concrete plans for now.

It remains unknown what part of Meta's AI models and developments would be coming to Apple, with its most powerful now, the Llama 3, known for powering Meta AI.

Apple Intelligence: iOS 18 AI Models

Apple Intelligence is known for integrating a third-party AI model with OpenAI's ChatGPT, and it would have Siri or other systems asking users which model they prefer to answer their prompts for them. It is known that ChatGPT and OpenAI are not allowed to collect data from users and their prompts, which is one of Apple's promises when it introduced Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence and Its Tech

WWDC 2024 introduced the world to Apple Intelligence, which will make its way to various devices and operating systems like iOS 18 for the iPhone, iPadOS 18 for the iPad, and macOS 15 for the Mac, offering its take on artificial intelligence. Apple's take on this latest AI development offers on-device and cloud-centered experiences centered on massive features for users.

One of Apple's main focuses for this release is its Siri revamp, which will make the renowned assistant more powerful by onboarding new capabilities and features powered by Apple Intelligence. Moreover, Siri will no longer appear as a round, shapeshifting object at the bottom of the screen; it will be all over the display and keep tabs on one's activity.

Of course, Apple is offering Apple Intelligence access without the need to open Siri with its heavy integration in various apps like Photos, iMessage, Mail, Apple Music, and more.

With the ChatGPT integration coming soon as its first partner experience accessible on Cupertino's devices, new reports suggest that Apple is also looking at Meta to deliver its AI models to enhance it further for all.
