Elon Musk: iOS 18 a ‘Security Violation’ for ChatGPT AI Integration; New Apple Ban for Tesla

Elon Musk does not trust OpenAI and Apple is caught up in it.

It is now confirmed that Apple Intelligence is here and will soon come to iOS 18, but Elon Musk is not buying it. He has picked on OpenAI's integration of ChatGPT and called it a 'security violation.' Musk has spent a good amount of his evening exclaiming how he feels about the situation, even sharing memes.

However, that is not yet all, as the tech billionaire is threatening to ban Apple devices in his companies, including Tesla, SpaceX, X, and more.

Elon Musk Says iOS 18 is a 'Security Violation' on ChatGPT Integration.

After sharing his gameplay on Diablo IV, Musk went against the recent WWDC 2024 announcement, particularly with Apple Intelligence's massive OpenAI integration centered on ChatGPT. In his words, OpenAI's "OS level" integration is an "unacceptable security violation."

In another post, Musk claimed that Apple's actions were "patently absurd," criticizing the company for not making its AI alone. He then rambled on about user privacy and security. Moreover, he said that Apple is clueless about what will happen when it hands over data and information to OpenAI, going as far as to say, "They're selling you down the river."

Furthermore, he shared a meme depicting iPhone data heading to Apple, but OpenAI also has access to it.

Nonetheless, the Community Notes on both posts clarify that Apple does not hand over iPhone data to OpenAI and that ChatGPT is only a choice for users to use within Apple Intelligence.

Apple Devices to be Banned on Tesla, Musk's Companies

However, this did not stop the executive from claiming that Apple devices would be banned in his companies, including Tesla, SpaceX, X, The Boring Company, and more. Musk also went as far as to say that visitors who bring their Apple devices will be asked to leave them, and these will be stored in Faraday cages until they retrieve them.

Musk clarified that he is not against Apple but OpenAI, yet he also suggested that his distrust of the company affects Apple device owners.

Apple Intelligence: Here's What Was Unveiled

While it was not new to the public that Apple would launch its AI at WWDC 2024, what speculators and rumors had claimed before the event turned out to be true, as Apple announced Apple Intelligence for all. The company calls it the 'personal intelligence system' for its devices like the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, integrated into iOS 18.

One of the most massive claims from the early reports and talks behind the technology is that Apple Intelligence's features are powered by OpenAI, one of which sees a ChatGPT integration with it.

Siri also got its significant upgrade, which had been missing out for years.

However, Musk is concerned about data access, particularly with OpenAI, a company he does not trust to handle user information well. He is now threatening to ban Apple devices in his companies.
