Popular AI chatbot Gemini is now available to more Android handsets in Google Messages. Currently, it's accessible in more than 165 countries. Google has extended the availability of its Gemini AI feature in Google Messages to a wider range of Android phones, beyond its initial launch on Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices. 

With this, the company aims to reach more users and bring AI-driven messaging accessible to more users globally.

Wider Availability and Key Requirements

Previously exclusive to popular devices like the Google Pixel 6, 7, and 8, as well as Samsung's Galaxy S22 series, Gemini is now available on other Android phones. 

For instance, users of the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G have recently reported seeing Gemini's welcome message, indicating the broader rollout.

What to Know Before You Install Gemini on Android

To utilize Gemini in Google Messages, your device must meet specific criteria, according to Android Central.

• At least 6GB of RAM
• The latest version of the Google Messages app
• A Google account
• Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging enabled

Google has updated its documentation to reflect these requirements, ensuring users can easily determine their device's compatibility.

How to Start a Chat with Gemini

Starting a chat with Gemini is straightforward. Begin, by opening the Messages app, then tap the "Start chat" button, and select Gemini from the options at the top. 

If you've previously interacted with Gemini, you can resume the conversation from your existing message thread. This seamless integration makes it easy for users to access Gemini's capabilities.

Global Availability and Language Support

Gemini is now accessible in Messages across more than 165 countries, including India. 

Currently, the AI supports English, with French available exclusively in Canada. Google acknowledges this limitation and is actively working to expand Gemini's language support and global reach.

In addition to the expanded availability in Messages, Google has launched the standalone Gemini app and its premium version, Gemini Advanced, in India. This app supports English and nine popular Indian languages, catering to a diverse user base.
