Nintendo Direct Unveils Super Mario Party Jamboree, Dubbed 'Biggest-Ever'

Get ready for 20-player online mode, more minigames, and an array of new maps.

Super Mario Party Jamboree was officially unveiled during the latest Nintendo Direct Presentation, offering players the biggest rendition of the beloved franchise dropping this October 17 on the Nintendo Switch.

Jamboree moves the party to an island resort and includes two redesigned maps from the original two games and a few new games. The trailer claimed to have the largest collection of Mario Party minigames to date, with over 110 different minigames.

The new boards are called Mega Wiggler's Tree Party, which looks simpler; a high-speed racing track called Roll 'em Raceway; a multilevel mall called Rainbow Galleria that features flash sales; a Goomba Lagoon map whose beach changes with the tide; and a King Bowser's Keep board, which is probably very difficult and has a castle and lava. The hootenannies of Western Land from Mario Party 2 and the floating clouds of Mario's Rainbow Castle from Mario Party are also returning with Jamboree.

Additionally, the teaser hinted at new modes without revealing what they would be. One of the new features of Koopathalon is the ability for users to compete against up to 19 other players online.

Joining Super Mario Party Jamboree are various new titles such as a new Legend of Zelda game wherein players are tasked to play as Princess Zelda herself after Link disappears, officially titled The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond with a 2025 release date, and a new RPG installment with Nintendo's favorite brothers dubbed Mario and Luigi Brothership.

Nintendo Switch 2

The June Nintendo Direct is one of the last few presentations before the successor to the Nintendo Switch is expected to be unveiled in early 2025.

Early in May, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa declared that the company intended to release a new game system during this fiscal year, which concludes in March 2025. According to Furukawa, it will have been more than nine years since the Nintendo Switch, then known as the "NX," was first released in 2015.

There had been months of intense conjecture and hearsay regarding the 'Switch 2' at the time. Furukawa sought to control fan expectations for the rest of the year and to quell speculation by laying out clear expectations.

Nintendo Switch Updates

The Nintendo Switch continues to be a favorable system with consistent yet obvious updates signaling the end of its life cycle. Most recently, Nintendo formally said that as of June 10, it will no longer integrate X (previously Twitter) on its Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED devices.

Other gaming behemoths like PlayStation and Xbox have already eliminated similar social media functions. Thanks to this functionality, players have been able to share gaming memories easily with their social media networks ever since the Switch's 2017 release. Furthermore, X's buddy suggestion tool for the Nintendo Switch will no longer allow users to send friend requests.
