Apple's Macbook Pro models with the artificial intelligence-centered M4 Chip could reportedly be on the horizon with an end-of-year release date of 2024, according to display analyst Ross Young.
According to display expert Young, the next MacBook Pro models, which will come out towards the end of the year, should start receiving panel shipments in the third quarter of 2024.
It is anticipated that the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro will come with an M4 chip and that the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips will be updated for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro versions. M4 and M4 Pro CPUs are coming to the Mac mini.
M4 chips will not be added to the MacBook Air, Mac Studio, or Mac Pro models until 2025, and it is reportedly unclear when the iMac will receive an upgrade that includes the latest chip technology.
With the M3 line, Apple introduced 3-nanometer technology, the foundation for the enhanced 3-nanometer node in the M4 processor. The M4 chip outperforms the M3 chip in multi-core performance in the Geekbench 6 evaluations by up to 25%. Therefore, the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips may experience comparable benefits.

Apple Mac Sales
Apple is developing the new Macs at a critical juncture. After reaching a record in 2022, Mac sales reportedly fell 27% in the most current fiscal year, which ended in September.
Over the holidays, the PC line's revenue remained stagnant. Apple attempted to revive the Mac business in October of last year with a launch event focused on the M3, but those chips did not much exceed the M2 from the year before.
The M4 chip family includes an entry-level Donan model, more powerful Brava versions, and a top-tier Hidra processor.
Slimmer, Lighter Apple Products
The new M4 Macbook Pro update coincides with Cupertino's impending production of a smaller body for the iPhone, MacBook Pro, and Apple Watch, as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman disclosed in his most recent PowerOn newsletter. This will be its new course once Apple has strayed a little from its original design path. It has recently focused on larger updates to support enhanced features and functionalities for every gadget.
The Apple Watch Ultra model was one of them. Like the iPhone, which featured larger batteries and cameras, the most recent MacBook Pros were likewise thickened for increased battery capacity, additional ports, and other reasons.
That will, however, alter with the next Apple launches as the company returns to its original priority of making its products lighter and thinner.
This was already feasible when the M4 iPad Pro was released in May of last year. Apple is currently attempting to integrate its notable resizing with its other technologies. There could also be a thinner iPhone 17 model that comes as a new size standard for the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch.
