Shazam has been available as an app for the Apple Watch for a long time now, and this allows the wearable's users to identify songs with just a click straight from their wrists.
However, users have to venture into the app or ask Siri to launch the Shazam service to share a part of the music for the app to find, and this would not be possible if one is in a hurry or wants to keep it low-key.
WatchOS 11 is adding massive features for users in its upcoming update, including its arrival as a Widget for the wearable.
Shazam is Coming to Apple Watch's Widgets via watchOS 11
Apple's Shazam has long helped defeat the 'last song syndrome' (LSS) issues users have had for years on different devices, most especially the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac. However, according to MacRumors' recent announcement, WWDC 2024's recent unveiling of watchOS 11 will deliver a new set of Widgets on the Apple Watch, including Shazam.
This means that users will get to add Shazam as part of their Smart Stacks, a renowned window that brings different widgets that are easily accessible to users.
It also signifies that users no longer have to download the Shazam app on the Apple Watch or ask Siri to turn on the feature to determine the song currently playing.
Identify Songs on Shazam Without the iPhone
Before this, Apple Watch users could access Shazam by downloading the app from the Apple App Store, which they could add through iPhones. On the other hand, they could ask Siri to bring up Shazam for it to start listening and to identify the song, but that would not be an option for keeping it lowkey, for example, when in cinemas or theaters, among other places and situations.
Apple's Shazam and What it Has to Offer
Shazam was once a standalone platform that was acquired by Apple in 2018, and since then, it has been available on these devices and integrated into the experiences directly. It was a novel platform that allowed a significant experience for users in finding the song for which they did not know the title by either recording the specific song being played or hummed by users.
In previous developments for Shazam, Apple introduced the ShazamKit, which expands the platform's experience for many users, and this also extends to Android. This developer tool allows third-party apps to take advantage of Shazam's features and enjoy what it has to offer in finding a certain song they come across apps without the need to hum it to the tech.
Apple has offered Shazam massive availability for users, not only for its devices but also for other platforms across different devices and systems, one of the most important being its Siri integration. The recent WWDC 2024 delivered top experiences for the Apple Watch, but with watchOS 11, new Widgets are coming, and Shazam will soon be available to add Smart Stacks for immediate access.
