Apple's Shazam Update Will Recommend Nearby Concerts Related to the Track Identified

The new concert features in Shazam are powered by Bandsintown, a powerful platform that aggregates performance information and concert. Bandsintown serves more than 68 million users and more than 560,000 artists, labels, managers, and booking agents.

The new concert features are rolling out on Mar. 22 in the Shazam applications for Android and iOS and through the Shazam website. Artists can also make their tour information available to Shazam using Bandsintown For Artists.

How Shazam Works

According to Business Insider, Shazam creates a digital fingerprint of the audio picked up from your phone's microphone. It matches the digital fingerprint to a database containing millions of TV shows and songs.

Once the app finds a match, it displays the name of the song, artists, or TV show and additional information like lyrics, sharing options, and more.

The Shazam app is available for both Android and iOS devices. It is also available for Android Wear, Apple Watch, and Mac. Shazam has been built into Siri on Apple devices since 2018, after Apple bought the company, according to MacRumors.

Shazam does more than tell you the name of the song, artist, or TV show that you are listing to. The app shows you the lyrics of the song in real-time.

Also, it recommends top songs by the artist, their other albums, their music videos, suggestions for similar songs that you may like, and the track information.

Shazam offers sharing options of social media apps, text messages, email, and options to open the song in Apple Music or Spotify or purchase it on iTunes. You can even add songs you find on Shazam to Spotify or Apple Music playlists.
