PS VR2 PC Compatibility is Coming Soon, Adapter Certification Now Spotted

PS VR2 will be available to use for PCs later this year.

After almost a year since PS VR2's PlayStation 5 exclusivity, Sony's confirmation of its PC compatibility made a significant development earlier today, as investigators recently spotted the company's adapter certification. This latest certification only signifies the company's dedication to making this experience possible in the future, but it remains unknown when it will be available in the year.

Sony only said to stay tuned for its announcements in 2024, but the Japanese gaming company has not provided any further updates regarding its cross-platform feats.

PS VR2 PC Compatibility: Adapter Certification Spotted

The PS VR2 is slowly building on its promise to bring PC compatibility later this year, and according to a recent spotting by Brad Lynch on South Korea's National Radio Research Agency, Sony has applied for its adapter certification for the device.

Its name clearly states 'PlayStation VR2 PC adapter,' and it is the highly-awaited tech coming to the VR wearable that will make it work on modern PCs.

Moreover, it was certified in South Korea last late March, according to the website, but other countries where it would be available have no certification spottings yet.

While this does not mean it would be exclusive to South Korea only, Sony may still be working on getting its PC adapter certified in the US and other countries.

PlayStation VR2 PC Compatibility is Coming This Year

Sony's claim in its previous confirmation said that the PC compatibility for the PlayStation VR2 will arrive this year, asking users to stay tuned for updates on its availability.

PS VR2's experience is already coming to PCs and users only need to wait. Many believe it will be a good PC VR device that features eye-tracking tech, OLED, and more in one device.

Sony's PlayStation VR2: Is It a Good Device?

The PlayStation VR2 is a great device in terms of its performance, game availability, and overall experience, but it does not seem to catch a break from users with its mixed reviews and callouts. This is because several factors limit what it can offer, and one includes its exclusivity to new games only, with backward compatibility and the first PS VR games not available to access here.

However, the latest PS VR2 still has novel features, and this includes what Sony put in it, allowing more accessibility experiences to be utilized. Expressions, winks, and more could mean a certain command or response from the device, offering an enhanced experience that will not entirely rely on its controllers.

One of the caveats of purchasing the PS VR2 is its massive price tag, which set users to $500 for the wearable and another $500 for a PS5 if they do not own one. However, that is changing soon thanks to Sony's confirmation and recent adapter certification, signaling the upcoming shift for the PS VR2 to head over to PCs and offer a new platform for VR gaming, complete with its features.
