PlayStation Showcase Coming This May Says Speculations—Here's What to Expect

Sony's PlayStation event is leaked for this month.

The recent announcement of new CEOs for Sony Interactive Entertainment suggests a possible PlayStation Showcase or State of Play this May.

However, we are already at the halfway point of the month, and there are plenty of speculations that this may no longer take place now. Still, this latest statement further upholds the possibility of the event nearing.

Previous rumors and speculations suggest that this will not be a massive year for PlayStation, as no first-party games will arrive.

The previous announcement and message from SIE CEO, Hiroki Totoki, gave the world details about the company's new leadership, but it also gave a teaser to a possible event coming later this May. The still-seated CEO said that Sony Group's "long-term vision" will be shared with the public later this month, suggesting an event will take place soon.

It remains unknown if this would be a PlayStation Showcase or another State of Play following last January's first for 2024, and this next one would focus more on its plans.

Totoki further revealed that fiscal year 2024 is the start of Sony's "Mid-Range Plan" which would set the foundations of its future and growth.

What can you expect from a PlayStation Showcase, State of Play?

Whether it is a PlayStation Showcase or Summer 2024's State of Play, this hinted event is coming this May and will bring the latest announcements and plans for the company's gaming division moving forward.

There are still no confirmations for the exact broadcast dates, but as the dates are running out, there should be an announcement soon enough.

PlayStation's Expected Plans for 2024

We are also nearly at the halfway point of the year, but no massive releases from PlayStation are expected to drop by this year, with 2024 not that massive for the company. Regarding renowned titles, first-party games will not be coming this year, including the much-awaited new release of Final Fantasy VII Remake's next part.

Towards the end of January 2024, Sony held its much-anticipated State of Play, the first for the year, delivering the news and what to expect for the year. There were several huge announcements revealed, but most are sequels and remakes for the PlayStation community to enjoy, including the likes of Death Stranding 2, Silent Hill 2's remake, Dragon's Dogma II, and more.

Other first-party franchises of the company, like God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, The Last of Us, and other titles, were not present in the first State of Play but are expected in the coming years.

That being said, the latest change of executives and Totoki's departure also hint at a showcase this May, offering more of Sony's plans for its gaming experiences moving forward.
