If the latest advertisement changes on Amazon's Prime Video are not enough, the e-commerce company announced a new update on what the world would expect from upcoming new ads for the streaming platform.
Amazon claimed that in the coming months, Prime Video will feature Amazon product ads and make them interactive.
To add insult to injury, Amazon revealed that these new ads would appear when users pause their Prime Video streams, pop up while watching shows, and more.
Amazon Ads on Prime Video Will Feature Products
The upcoming Amazon Upfront 2024 event revealed that later this year, new product ads will be coming to Prime Video as part of the e-commerce company's ad program.
Prime Video's ads, best known to be showing on the standard $14.99 per month subscription, which is the solo tier on Amazon's streaming platform, will undergo massive tweaks.
As detailed in its FAQs, Prime Video Ads will soon allow its partner brands and advertisers to showcase their products on the streaming platform.
Moreover, CNET revealed that Prime Video's future ads, including live sports streams, would appear on the screen whenever a movie or show is paused.
Amazon's Interactive Product Ads on Prime Video
The report said the future product ads from Amazon coming to Prime Video will be interactive. It focused on three types of "interactive ads" that will appear between the streams and also when the video is paused.
This includes carousel ads where users may choose to shop, interactive pause ads, and interactive brand trivia ads.
These would allow users to add the product to their Amazon carts to check out later.
Amazon and Its Advertisements
Amazon has a massive ad program for its many merchants and sellers on the e-commerce platform, also featuring many affiliate links that help a creator earn more for the audience's purchases.
However, it is not the only part of Amazon to get rid of ads, particularly as the company recently introduced Prime Video ads for the standard subscription from its original ad-free experience.
While users may opt for the ad-free Prime Video, it will cost them $3 more per month. This means that the $14.99 monthly subscription would now cost users $17.99, around $30 more per year.
However, some are left with no choice. Back in February, Amazon also removed Dolby Atmos audio and Dolby Vision for video if users did not pay the extra fee.
Recently, Amazon also changed how ads play on Prime Video, with many users raising their complaints about the service being rid of advertisements, with some claiming that for an entire movie, they were made to sit through 9 ads.
Amazon did not stop there as it is set to introduce a new form of interactive product ads for Prime Video later in the year, focusing more on what the e-commerce company sells on its online store.
