In its latest Q1 2024 Earnings Call, Tesla unveiled more about its upcoming Robotaxi service and previewed its interface on the Tesla app.
Instead of creating another app or platform to hail a ride from Tesla electric vehicles powered by the fully autonomous Full-Self Driving software, it would be accessible on the main app.
Tesla Robotaxi Preview: Here's How It Would Look
The latest post by Tesla's X account following its Q1 2024 earnings call shows a preview of its robotaxi venture's interface, with a series of screenshots and mockups of how it would appear on the Tesla app.
It also confirms that Tesla would launch the ride-hailing service right on its app, and would no longer develop a new platform that is dedicated to the service.
It shows the features and what users would expect when using the company's autonomous ride-hailing service, which has some similarities to existing apps that offer these kinds of experiences.
With this preview, users now have a grasp of what Tesla will offer in the future. The August 8 event later this year will unveil more of its robotaxi venture.
Hail a Ride with a Self-Driving Tesla on the App
The image shows various features of the Tesla robotaxi service, and asking to hail a ride on an autonomous EV would use the 'Summon' feature of the cars.
Additionally, users may input the number of passengers and destination and know when the bus will arrive to pick them up.
Tesla would also allow users to control the interior climate temperatures based on their preferences on the app.
Lastly, Tesla showed that users may track their ride via the app, see their estimated arrival time, and control the music inside the electric vehicle.
Tesla's Robotaxi Venture: What should we expect?
For many years, Tesla has already expressed its desire to launch a robotaxi service in the country. This means that users do not necessarily need to own a Tesla EV to experience its technology.
However, this April was a massive turn of events for the company, and apart from its cheapest Model 2 being canceled, the Robotaxi is now its main focus.
Musk's announcement that the robotaxi venture would be revealed later this year was widely celebrated by fans and enthusiasts of Tesla's services. However, there are still many elements to take care of.
This was because Tesla did not notify regulators regarding this new Robotaxi service, particularly in states like California, Arizona, and Nevada, which are best known for having other companies' autonomous services available there.
While there is a lot to take care of, including technicalities and licenses, Tesla's focus on the robotaxi saw a massive shift from centering primarily on private ownership; it is now down to public transportation.
In its latest revelation, the Tesla app would be the platform for booking robotaxi rides on its EVs, previewing its minimalist interface and dark theme.
