Tesla FSD Now Cheaper by $4,000 for US, Enhanced Autopilot Gone

Full-Self Driving is now significantly cheaper for US purchases.

As part of the latest round of price cuts, Tesla is also reducing the price of its Full-Self Driving (FSD) software in the United States, offering as much as $4,000 off the original price of the technology.

This massive price decrease is only available in the United States, with Canada also part of this North American discount, with its EVs also seeing the price cut.

However, it was not only a price cut done on Tesla, but also the cancellation of its Enhanced Autopilot software, which was available before, a cheaper alternative to FSD.

Tesla North America announced on X that its Full-Self Driving software that is available to fully purchase is now only at $8,000, and this is $4,000 less than its original price of $12,000. This pricing is only available in the United States market, with Canada also seeing the same price decrease for the software.

In the Great North, instead of its previous CAD 16,000, users may be able to purchase it at CAD 12,000.

The company did not reveal the reason behind the lower pricing of the FSD in the North American region, but it follows Tesla's decision to halve the price of FSD's subscription to only $99.

On Tesla's website, the FSD is still not meant to fully take over the EV, and it still advises users to supervise the driving while using the technology.

Tesla Enhanced Autopilot Option Now Gone

However, alongside this FSD price decrease comes a massive change to Tesla's autonomous driving tech as the company removed the Enhanced Autopilot technology from its software offers, said Electrek.

This is the $6,000 autonomous driving tech touted to be better than the usual Autopilot, one that is close to the FSD but is not quite at the same level.

Tesla FSD: Autonomous Driving Software

For the past years, there has been massive questioning against the Tesla FSD, particularly as many came forward with complaints that led them to accidents and some to fatal incidents. Last February 2023, Tesla recalled the FSD Beta for its issues that the company looked to fix, and this effectively affected its availability among the company's EVs.

This led to Tesla facing a massive struggle in the market now, with the company reporting "lower car sales" compared to its previous quarters where it saw record-high numbers. There was an influx of new electric vehicles in the market, one that offers a cheaper price and various alluring features that overshadowed Tesla's famed developments, alongside the issues it faces with the Autopilot and FSD.

Recently, Tesla lowered the monthly subscription rate for the FSD (Supervised) version to as much as $100 less than its previous pricing available. After several weeks, Tesla effected a massive price decrease across its various EV models, but this also came alongside the FSD's software purchase now priced at $8,000 only, with the Enhanced Autopilot tech now removed.
