Memes and old photos, in some way, have become part of our fondest memories as teens. Oftentimes, we look at them thinking about what made life so good back then. Some can't get over the days when everyone is "memeing" on the internet.
In some cases, it's necessary to remove them from our feed. The question is between keeping and deleting them. Fortunately, Google Photos has finally an answer to this dilemma.
The latest feature of the app will allow us to organize and manage our extensive collection of photos and videos. Its backup tool efficiently categorizes the media based on various criteria, including people, events, and functions. Additionally, it periodically resurfaces old photos to trigger the sleeping nostalgia inside you.
Addressing Unwanted Content
For users who rely on Google Photos to back up media from messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, the library may become cluttered with unwanted memes, GIFs, and screenshots.
Recognizing this issue, Google is developing a solution to allow users to hide such content from their library. That is why the search engine giant brings a "Hide clutter" setting, according to Android Police.
What is 'Hide Clutter'
Recent findings within the latest Google Photos app for Android hint at a forthcoming feature called "Hide clutter." This setting, located under the "Personalize your grid" section, will enable users to hide backed-up photos like screenshots, GIFs, and memes, while still retaining access to them through their respective albums.
It's one way to preserve your old media if you still can't get over them or if you want to access them someday.
Memories UI to Receive Nice Makeover
In addition to the clutter-hiding feature, Google is working on enhancing the Memories UI within the Photos app, Piunika Web writes.
The redesigned interface will showcase a thumbnail image from the album, departing from the current random collage format. While some users may prefer the existing UI for its nostalgic appeal, the new interface aims to provide a fresh perspective on past memories.
AI Features Management
Furthermore, Google Photos is set to introduce a dedicated "AI features by Labs" option in the Preferences menu. This menu will allow users to manage all AI-related features, including the "Help me title" feature, which suggests titles for memories based on artificial intelligence.
While this feature is currently available in the US without an option to disable it, the upcoming settings update will provide users with greater control over AI functionalities.
Speaking of AI, Tech Times reported that free AI editing tools will be available on May 15 for Google Photos users. Soon, you can utilize Portrait Light, Photo Unblur, and Magic Eraser.
Although these new features are still undergoing testing, their eventual rollout will enhance the user experience on Google Photos. The ability to hide memes and GIFs will give you time to achieve a clutter-free environment for users to cherish their most beloved memories.
