DC's Teen Titans will soon be joining the ever increasing number of superhero television shows, and now we have word on which heroes will make up the teenage crime fighting team.
The Nerdist reports that Dick Grayson will lead the team on the upcoming TNT show Titans, as he has in various incarnations of the cartoons and comics. He will begin the show as Robin, Batman's sidekick, and eventually transition into the hero Nightwing. The Hank Hall and Dawn Granger incarnations of Hawk and Dove will be joining the team, and will be a "romantic pairing." Teen Titan regulars Starfire and Raven are also set to appear.
Making her Teen Titan debut is a wheelchair-bound Barbara Gordon, also known as Oracle. She's never been a member of the Titans in the comics or animated show, and it sounds like at least at the outset she won't be going by her "Oracle" codename.
Noticeably absent on the roster are Cyborg and Beast Boy. The two heroes have appeared in multiple incarnations of the team in the comics, but they are perhaps most well known from Cartoon Network's Teen Titans animated show. That team consisted of Robin, Raven, Starfire, Beast Boy and Cyborg. A comedic take on the Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, still airs on the network and stars the same characters. Cyborg will at least make an appearance in the DC Cinematic unvierse, as he is set to appear in Justice League before getting a standalone film. Ray Fisher will portray the character on the big screen.
One big question is whether or not Teen Titans will connect with CW's DC Comics television shows Arrow and The Flash. TNT and the CW do share a parent company, so Nerdist says it is a possibility.
The show's pilot episode will be written by Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes, and is set to begin production later this year.
