A new report pointed out the latest discovery on Google, with the company now working on a 'Lookup' button that would help identify the unknown callers who have contacted you.
This feature would be available for Android smartphones, with the feature available on the Google Phone app, and the search platform would be used to determine the person or group behind it.
Through this feature, users may learn more about the context of the call and from whom it came, but there are still issues with spoofed phone numbers being used for these types of calls.
Google 'Lookup' Button on Android Now Under Development
The renowned Android analyst and insider, AssembleDebug, shared a discovery on X regarding Google's latest work towards a 'Lookup' button for Android.
The Lookup button has an icon of a person and a magnifying glass that would be available to search when the number is an unknown caller, available on the Google Phone app's recent list.
It was originally revealed to be available in the Pixel phone's beta testing phase. The lookup feature helps identify unknown callers.
Moreover, Lookup will use the Google Search platform to find the caller, but that may not be entirely accurate as thousands of numbers are spoofed, misleading people about who the real caller is.
Lookup Reveals Unknown Callers on Android
The lookup button may allow Android users to learn more about who is calling them, but it is unknown when it will arrive on the operating system.
It would effectively help avoid the need to copy the number and paste it into the Google Search feature to find out who is behind the unknown call.
Google and its Android Platform
Google is continuously adding new features to the Android platform, one of the top prized developments of the company in the modern tech world.
The latest and most useful security feature available here is the 'Find My Device' feature, which will work despite the device running out of battery power or being turned off by thieves. This feature offers users a chance to locate their device without any hindrances.
Another upcoming feature on Android is 'Private Space,' a feature that will take users to a whole new experience and keep the apps, files, and other things exclusive to this place only.
However, a previous discovery will soon ask users to create an alternative Google account or use a different one to keep it apart from the primary one.
Massive developments are coming for Android, which is expected by insiders and analysts who have found various evidence of these features for smartphones.
A new beta on the Google Phone app offers its users a chance to discover who called them via the Lookup button, but it may not be entirely accurate as several bad actors use the contact information of others for spoofing, scams, and more.
