The upcoming and much anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake is inching closer to its arrival, and it was reported that Konami is now preparing to reveal the actual release date of the game.
Since its inception and confirmation, there have been no actual dates revealed by Konami, still upholding the "TBA" status of the game's release as developments and other works are still taking place.
However, the latest development for the title suggests that a release is nearing, with its rating also revealed, showing what to expect from the upcoming game.
Silent Hill 2 Remake: Konami Nearing Release Date Announcement
ComicBook Gaming reported that Silent Hill 2 Remake's release date announcement from Konami is nearing, claiming that the expectation for its release this year remains.
This was because the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) recently released the rating for Silent Hill 2, and this release from the organization suggests the game's nearing release.
Despite this development, Konami remains silent regarding the remake title's release, with its launch platforms like the PS5 and Steam still displaying "Coming Soon" or "To be confirmed."
Silent Hill 2 Remake Already Got Its ESRB Rating
That being said, the ESRB rated Silent Hill 2 Remake with "M," which means it is for the Mature ages 17 and above. This is because the game contains content and themes that center on Blood and Gore, Language, Sexual Themes, and Violence.
As regarded by the ESRB, the game focuses on combat with "realistic gunfire, cries of pain, and blood-splatter effects."
It also depicts the iconic creatures in the game, including Pyramid Head, mannequins, and other monsters. Additionally, it features sexual and suggestive content, profanities, and more.
What to Expect from Silent Hill 2 Remake
It all started in 2021 when the bugging rumors about Konami's remake of its most famous games and franchises were coming, with Silent Hill 2 touted as one of the company's projects for its return to modern platforms.
It was previously revealed that the game's remake would center on its availability on the PlayStation 5 only, not for the older consoles, and via Steam on PC.
Konami enlisted the help of the Bloober Team for this remake, centering on fitting the game from its original 480p square format to the horizontal format, one that could possibly reach 4K graphics.
However, the main specs of the game remain unknown, particularly if it would be offered at 60fps like most modern games for the current-gen consoles.
The Bloober Team is known for their work on CAPCOM's Resident Evil 4 remake, a game that saw significant praise and critical acclaim for what it had to offer and how it turned out for the modern times.
Silent Hill 2's remake is still one of the top-awaited resurrections in gaming history, with the belief that its new ESRB rating suggests a nearing release date announcement from Konami.
