The iOS 18 will bring the biggest update yet, and it will also include more customization options for the iPhone's home screen in this release, centering on an improved experience for users. With this latest improvement, it was said that Apple is looking to "catch up" to its rivals in the smartphone industry alongside its upcoming reported introduction of artificial intelligence.
WWDC 2024 is nearing, and it is expected to reveal more about the iOS 18 which answers all the questions and speculations people have about the update.
iOS 18 to Feature 'More Customizable' Home Screen
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claimed in his latest Power On Newsletter that Apple is set to bring a "more customizable" home screen with the iOS 18 for the iPhones. However, the renowned Apple analyst did not reveal any details about what Apple is to offer for this release.
That being said, Gurman said that iOS 18 will bring numerous AI features with this update that could help users in their daily lives.
Various reports centered on significant changes coming for the iOS 18, one that would be its biggest yet, touting AI as its main focus for the likes of Siri, Apple Music, Apple's work suite, Messages, Photos, and more.
App Icon Tweaks Coming for the iPhone
According to MacRumors, Gurman's latest claim centers on iOS 18's ability to offer app icon tweaks, one that would make the home screen more free with regards to its layout and arrangement. Instead of having apps be placed on specific tiles, Apple's iOS 18 would allow them to be placed anywhere on the screen, the first time it will do so for the iPhone.
iOS 18: What Changes are Coming?
Massive expectations are placed on the iOS 18 as it was said to be the "most ambitious" and compelling update coming to the iPhones, alongside its counterpart, iPadOS 18 for the iPads.
The main reason behind this claim was because of the AI integration Apple would deliver for the operating system, one that would be built-in with it and would be available soon.
Some of the AI features to expect is the help of this technology to improve the longtime AI assistant of the company, Siri, and will give it more of a chatbot-esque conversational approach. Alongside this, it will also bring Apple Music's generative AI playlists that would deliver tailored content for users, alongside a possible generative photo editor, akin to Google and Samsung.
It is believed by insiders and rumor mongers that Apple is working with the likes of Google and OpenAI to bring their AI models to the iPhone alongside iOS 18.
That being said, Apple is already under massive speculation for what iOS 18 would deliver, with new reports about improved customization for the home screen and app icons coming.
