A new update from Google on Drive for iOS is here, centering on massive improvements for the app's search and filtering features, offering an easier way to look for items on the online storage platform. Through this, users may better refine their search from Google's cloud storage platform, especially as it combs through gigabytes of files available on one's account.
More importantly, this latest update from Google is first on the iOS, with its very own Android platform yet to have it, but claims it is coming soon.
Google Drive for iOS Gets Search Filtering Upgrades and MORE
Google's latest Workspace Blog update centers on the new features of Drive for iOS, with the company updating the app on this platform first, featuring search filters for the app. This will help improve more of the search experience of the iOS app, especially as the previous version would comb through numerous files and show users many results across their uploads.
Through this new feature, users may take advantage of three search filter options including File Type, Owners, and Last Modified, alongside the file name or keyword itself.
Moreover, Google also adds relevant query filters whenever users type on the search bar, with a new assistive feature for additional refining options after users finish their typing.
How to Use the New Drive for iOS Feature from Google
Google's Drive for iOS will now feature these search filter experiences on the latest version of the app, and users simply have to type in its Search bar to get started. Here, they will be met with options, including the three mentioned above, to toggle on so that it would be the only type that Drive will comb through among the numerous files.
This feature is made available to the iOS first, with Android said to be getting this later, with Google soon confirming its arrival.
Google Drive and What it Offers
Search filtering on Google Drive is a significant feature that has been available to the browser version of the experience, especially as it helps refine searches better, giving users a faster and easier process in doing so. There were three filters made available to toggle, centering on the file type, owner, and last modified options under the Material You redesign.
Drive for iOS also saw an update last year before 2023 ended, with Google adding a Document Scanner feature that would access the iPhone's cameras and use it to capture a specific document for the user. This will have it scanning the document and uploading it immediately to the Drive upon capture, eliminating the need for third-party apps and uploading it after saving.
Despite iOS being a renowned Android rival for many years now, Google still makes it a point to add new features to the apps available on iPhones and iPads to feature various experiences, sometimes even ahead of Android. In this latest update on Drive for iOS, Google brings the search filtering feature, along with relevant query filters to help refine the search on the app.
