A new feature on Instagram is now under the TestFlight experience, with App Clip now offered by the Meta social media platform and delivers a way to try out the app without having to download it. Introducing Instagram to friends or family without them having the Meta app installed on their devices would allow them to explore a part of it on their iOS devices.
However, the App Clip is known for offering a short experience of Instagram only, and all the other apps that have the feature available.
Instagram Debuts App Clip on Apple TestFlight
Apple's TestFlight platform on iOS now has a new addition from Meta's Instagram, particularly version 319.0.2, which offers a new feature called the App Clip. Through this Apple feature, Instagram may use the App Clip to deliver a preview of the renowned media-focused app and let users get the experience without having it downloaded to their iOS device.
Through App Clip, users may access Instagram quickly and easily, and it would not require navigating through various features or parts of the app to get to the point.
9to5Mac reported that Instagram's App Clip experience leverages the Reels to see the mini app experience, but after six short video clips, it would prompt users to download the full app.
What Does App Clip Offer for Developers?
Apple said that the App Clip is a "small part of an app that lets you do tasks quickly," and it centers on various features that developers want to highlight and make easily accessible for users. The App Clip may be available to access via links on Safari and Messages, NFC tags found in the physical world to scan, supported locations on the Maps, and scanning QR codes.
Meta's Instagram App
Meta's Instagram is one of its top platforms available, offering a multimedia experience and a wide social network available to enjoy with its media-centric feed unlike that of Facebook. Last year, massive features were added by Meta for Instagram, especially with the main feed that offers a way to control who can see your posts by adding a close friends list for it.
Artificial intelligence was also a massive release for Meta last year, and while the main company centered on its wider rollout of the experience, Instagram got a whole slur of new AI features to expand more on creativity. Some of the AI features on Instagram include the tools for creating memes, the infamous AI stickers, designing new filters, and Reels getting the new media clip hub.
Despite all of this, one of the most notable shortcomings of Instagram is its lack of a native iPad experience, with the bigger platform not yet getting an app and is not a priority said its CEO.
The latest feature on Instagram now offers App Clip to let people discover the app in case they do not have it yet, leveraging the Reels experience, available on the TestFlight for now.
