This Pokémon-esque Game with Guns Surpasses 300K Players on Steam Debut

Learn more about Palworld's explosive debut on Steam.

The newest monster-taming survival game, Palworld, has exploded onto the gaming scene with an impressive debut on Steam.

Aptly dubbed "Pokémon With Guns," Kotaku reports that the title has managed to captivate over 300,000 players on its first day of Early Access, showcasing an unprecedented level of interest that has propelled it up Steam's charts.

The game's moniker, "Pokémon With Guns," has proven to be more than just a catchy phrase, with its edgy twist attracting a significant audience seeking a departure from the traditional Pokémon experience.

Palworld's Servers Can't Take Surge of Players

Palworld's meteoric rise has not been without its share of challenges. Kotaku tells us that the game's servers, inundated by the surge of enthusiastic players, have experienced instability.

The development team at Pocketpair is actively working to resolve connection issues, urging players to either restart the game or exercise patience as they address the overwhelming demand.

One Million Copies Sold Out Launch

Despite these technical hurdles, Palworld's success extends beyond just player counts. Gematsu tells us that the game has achieved the remarkable feat of outselling over one million copies within the first eight hours of its Early Access launch.

This achievement solidifies its position as a game to watch and places it in a competitive league, surpassing sales records set by well-established titles like Grand Theft Auto V and Starfield.

Pocketpair, the developer behind Palworld, is aware of the potential skepticism surrounding the game. In response to concerns that Palworld might be just another Pokémon knock-off, the development team has gone the extra mile to assert the game's legitimacy.

In an official FAQ, Pocketpair assures players that Palworld is 100 percent legitimate, aiming to dispel doubts about the game's authenticity.

Get the Game Now

The success of Palworld is not limited to Steam alone. The game is available across various platforms, including Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. Moreover, it caters to Xbox Game Pass subscribers, ensuring a wide player base and increasing accessibility.

Looking ahead, Pocketpair hints at the possibility of expanding Palworld's reach to include a PlayStation 5 version, although concrete plans are yet to be confirmed.

The game is expected to remain in Early Access for at least a year, with a current price tag of $29.99. However, players should be aware that the pricing may see adjustments at or closer to the official release.
