The notorious problem in the latest iOS 17.1 version saw wireless charging in cars, particularly for General Motors, broken, but in the latest claim by Apple for iOS 17.2's release notes, it already sees a fix. Currently, the world awaits the latest iOS 17 version as the company will release it next week, but that remains to be known as users need to test it once it arrives.
Different users have taken their concerns on this wireless charging feature for cars to various forums and platforms, complaining about how iOS 17.1 saw the errors.
Apple iOS 17.2: Claims to Fix Wireless Charging in Cars
The iOS 17.2 Release Candidate (RC) was updated by Apple and claims that it already fixed the problem of wireless charging in certain vehicles, and this is specific to the issues found with General Motors cars.
While Apple did not specify the iOS 17.2's fix for GM cars, it claimed that the fix was for 'certain vehicles,' and most of the concerns were for the American-based brand. This includes brands like Chevrolet, Cadillac, and Buick cars.
It was previously reported by The Verge that GM acknowledged the issue last month, but there were no fixes available yet from either side. Moreover, it was seen by many as an issue with Apple's release, with many claiming that updating to iOS 17.1 brought the said issue, with the feature working before updating to the said version.
When to Expect the iOS 17.2 Public Release?
Reports claimed that Apple plans to bring the iOS 17.2 version to the public next week, and it will be available for everyone to download, not only for beta users.
Most of the wireless charging in cars that faced the issue saw it in their iPhone 15 devices, but for older smartphones, one owner said that it "worked perfectly" for their iPhone 12 and with the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse.
Apple's iOS 17 for iPhones
The release of iOS 17 has been a joy for users, as Apple released significant developments to the operating system which offers massive upgrades to the iPhone experience. It has expanded more on its creative features, particularly with the Live Stickers that expands more the feature offered in iOS 16, and it will appear on the Messages app, storing these media when creating one.
However, apart from the many intuitive features and experiences of the current system, there have been several privacy concerns about what Apple gave the world. This is with the NameDrop feature that was introduced in iOS 17 where people can share and exchange contact information by just tapping together their eligible iPhones, with the police raising their worries.
All in all, Apple's iOS 17 has been a treat for many users, except some due to various concerns about what it has to offer, including the recent release, iOS 17.1, which "broke" the wireless charging. That being said, iOS 17.2 is amidst its release for the public, looking to fix the wireless charging problem present in General Motors vehicles and, hopefully, the answer to what the public hopes for.
