AllTrails secured the position of Apple's iPhone App of the Year, while Imprint: Learn Visually claimed the title of Google Play's best app, and Honkai: Star Rail emerged as the Game of the Year, a unanimous choice for both platforms, TechCrunch reported.

Apple App Store Rewards

Apple's App Store Awards recognized 14 apps and games that stood out for empowering users, fostering creativity, and delivering enjoyable experiences.

AllTrails, a hiking and biking companion, took the iPhone App of the Year award for its role in community-building and outdoor exploration.

Prêt-à-Makeup on iPad received the iPad App of the Year award. It provided a true-to-life makeup sketchpad. Photomator is the Mac App of the Year. It streamlined advanced editing tasks with machine learning-powered tools.

MUBI, which curated exceptional indie films and documentaries, received the Apple TV App of the Year award. SmartGym is the Apple Watch App of the Year. It offered a comprehensive fitness experience with a diverse library of exercises and routines.

Honkai: Star Rail topped the gaming category for its rich narrative and tactically engaging combat on the iPhone. It also recognized Lies of P and Hello Kitty Island Adventure as Mac Game of the Year and Apple Arcade Game of the Year, respectively.

Apple said that the App Store winners were selected from a pool of nearly 40 finalists and were judged based on their technical innovation, user experience, and design.

Google Play's Best of 2023 Awards

Google Play's Best of 2023 Awards introduced new categories recognizing technological advancements and cross-device compatibility.

Imprint: Learn Visually took the spotlight as the best app, offering bite-sized lessons with visual storytelling across various subjects, while Honkai: Star Rail secured the title of the best game.

Notably, Google introduced categories like "Best with AI" and "Best Game for Good" to acknowledge apps leveraging cutting-edge technology and those making a positive impact.

Spotify earned recognition as the Best Multi-Device App for its seamless experience across various platforms, allowing users to control playback remotely and download content for offline use. OUTERPLANE-Strategy Anime was hailed as the Best Multi-Device Game for its charming characters, story, and smooth transition across devices.

ChatGPT was crowned the users' choice app in the Users' Choice category, reflecting its widespread popularity and impact. MONOPOLY GO! clinched the Users' Choice Game title, showcasing classic board games' enduring appeal even in the digital era.
