The main ordeal between Google and Apple may already have an answer, and this is with the upcoming "Nothing Chats" from the renowned tech company from the UK, promising to bring iMessage to the Android platform. This new feature by Nothing promises the renowned "blue bubbles" to appear right on the app and on the iMessage over at the iPhone's platform.
It is a renowned debate in the tech world now regarding Google's pressure against Apple to adopt the RCS (rich communication services), for cross-platform messaging.
Nothing Chats: iMessage is Coming to Android with Blue Bubbles
While it is still a long shot for Apple to adopt RCS for its iMessage in a bid for cross-compatibility, the renowned Nothing company announced the "Nothing Chats," a new app that envisions iPhone-to-Android communication. As per the company, Nothing Chats is capable of bringing iMessage to Android, and this will allow users to send "blue bubbles" to iPhones without using one.
The current development affirmed their massive claims, saying that it is the first company to offer a solution for the massive communication gap between Android and iOS.
Nothing Chats is powered by Sunbird, and this will allow its users to directly send chats to the iMessage service, exclusively available to the Phone (2) for the US, Canada, UK, and EU.
The beta version is coming this November 17.
What's the Catch for Nothing Chats' iMessage Compatibility
First off, the catch for Nothing Chats' iMessage compatibility needs the Nothing Phone (2) in the selected regions mentioned above. Next, the app requires the user to log in via their Apple ID, but Nothing and Sunbird promises that one's data is not stored, to be deleted immediately after setup.
Lastly, users need to set Nothing Chats as the default messaging app to get the Android to iOS experience, centering on the email address-based iMessage.
RCS, the iMessage, and Google's Pressure
The world knows the massive universality clause of the European Union under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), with its massive pressure to make technology accessible for all, and looks to abolish anti-competition. However, there are still no changes coming to Apple's iMessage for its devices to transcend to other devices, with it still centering on its exclusivity to its devices.
For a long time, Google has campaigned against Apple to pressure the company into adopting the RCS, with this technology using an internet connection to send better messages among smartphones. In an earlier campaign this year, Google wanted Apple to "#GetTheMessage" about upgrading from the "outdated" SMS and MMS, to the renowned RCS.
With the many shade and criticisms against Apple for its continued patronage of old technology and exclusive offers via the iMessage, many aims to be part of it to allow cross-platform compatibility. Nothing Chats may have a potential bridge to this problem in the future, with the beta testing coming this week, centering on its compatibility with iMessage, with a few caveats.
