Verizon Wireless faced disruptions in its network early Friday morning, affecting many customers who reported issues with data, voice, and text services.
The company acknowledged a known problem in Denver and assured users that they were actively working on resolving the issue, according to a report by 9news.
Verizon Disruption
While the disruptions were limited to the Denver area, customers experiencing a lack of cellular service were advised to explore Verizon Wi-Fi calling alternatives. Verizon emphasized that most network-related problems are typically resolved within a 12-hour timeframe.
Customers were cautioned not to contact emergency services, such as 911, to report the outage, reinforcing that Verizon Wireless was aware of and actively addressing the situation.
Jefferson County's 911 service issued a statement acknowledging the large outage and directing individuals to contact Verizon Wireless for more information. The message stressed the importance of continuing to use 911 for reporting emergencies requiring police, fire, or medical assistance.
Some users reported restoring their services around 6 a.m., indicating that Verizon was progressing in resolving the issue.
FOX31 reported that it reached out to Verizon for additional insights, and a representative confirmed the service disruption, stating, "A service issue impacted some Verizon customers in Colorado early this morning. The issue has been resolved, and service has been restored. Any customers still experiencing issues are encouraged to restart their phone."
By 7 a.m., Jeffcom911 confirmed that Verizon Wireless service was operational again, marking the successful resolution of the disruption.
"Verizon Wireless is experiencing a large outage in the area. Please contact Verizon Wireless for information on the outage and continue using 911 to report emergencies needing police, fire or medical assistance," Jeffcom911 said in an X post.

Verizon's New Feature to Block Texts
In related news, Verizon introduced a new feature allowing customers to block unwanted text messages last August 29. Users were instructed to text "OFF" to 4040, triggering a process to halt incoming text messages deemed undesirable.
Verizon highlighted that more than 80% of email-to-text messages were classified as spam. This initiative aimed to provide customers with a quick and effective means of stopping unwanted text messages.
The context surrounding Verizon's recent service disruption comes at a time when the issue of spam texts and robocall scams has been a growing concern in the United States. Unwanted calls and texts have increased over the years, prompting regulatory bodies like the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to take action.
The FCC has implemented bans and policies to combat illegal robocalls and spam texts, emphasizing the role of mobile service providers, such as Verizon, in blocking these unwanted communications to enhance customer security.
