Polestar with StoreDot's 5-minute Charge Battery to Soon Test, Prototype Coming Next Year

Fast charging batteries for Polestar is coming next year.

Many are laughing "in fuel" and internal combustion engines against electric vehicles that would take long to charge and get back on the road for the user, but that may soon see a solution with Polestar using StoreDot's 5-Minute Charge battery. It was reported that this battery technology for EVs would go under testing with Polestar, and soon deliver a prototype coming next year.

There are clear disadvantages for both ICEs and EVs in the present market, but various car and tech innovations look to improve the experience for all.

Ars Technica reported that Polestar and StoreDot are now in the works to test the latter's 5-minute charge battery to the Polestar 5 electric vehicle, soon to deliver a new era of battery charging feat. With StoreDot's batteries, the electric vehicle would see a significant fraction of its waiting time reduced, speeding up the charging process that would help users get back to driving in no time.

StoreDot's technology centers on fast-charging batteries, with its tech claiming that 5 minutes of charge would give 100 miles of range.

It was also regarded that StoreDot prioritized quicker charging than energy density, with its silicon anodes that make up its battery components thinner than usual cells, helping dissipate heat rejection during the process.

Polestar 5 with StoreDot Battery Prototype Coming Soon

With the testing looking to take place in the present, the report further claimed that there is already a plan to deliver a Polestar 5 prototype with StoreDot's fast-charging power cells by 2024. Should this testing prove to be effective, it would allow an enhanced EV charging experience to allow more time spent on driving than waiting for the vehicle to replenish its juice.

Fast Chargers and Fast-Charging EV Batteries

The competition in the clean energy market now is time, and this is because there are massive developments that offer fast chargers and fast-charging batteries for EVs from various companies. One of the most iconic and earliest to offer this is Tesla, particularly with its renowned Superchargers, which promises 200 miles in only 15 minutes, offering an impressive wait time.

However, chargers are only one thing in this quest to improve EV battery charging times in the industry, especially with the growing adoption of electric cars.

Various companies and startups already announced fast-charging batteries coming to the EV industry, with a company called Ionblox recently revealing what they have worked on for this venture.

All in all, this venture would not be possible if car companies were reluctant to test and use this technology, with Polestar reportedly testing these fast-charging batteries now. StoreDot's promise and development for these power cells are looking to deliver a different future for EVs with enhanced capabilities alongside Polestar 5's 2024 prototype featuring the tech.
